We came back to the office a few hours ago after finishing the meeting about the event. Everything went smoothly. I wrapped up all the work related to the deal with Mr. Agnihotri as well. Honestly, it might be the most exciting deal I've ever handled.
Once everything was done, I returned to my cabin. I went through the files again. And then again. I checked every detail, every clause, every small point, making sure there was no room for error. Not even a single one. This deal had to go perfectly.
I hadn't even sat down in my chair when Rahul started. He had been holding back for way too long, and now his questions came crashing down like a bulldozer. I stopped him immediately and told him to wait until we were alone.
And now, we were.
He looked at me and asked, "So, are you finally going to tell me what's going on in your mind?"
I sighed and leaned back, holding the edge of the table. "The outcome I'm expecting from this deal is pretty clear, Rahul. And if you still haven't figured it out... I want her."
He nodded slowly. "I got that. But why all this? You could've just asked. He might have said yes."
I smiled, slow and calculated. "Just asking wasn't enough. That wouldn't have assured me anything. I'm not taking even the smallest chance of losing her."
He frowned. "You haven't even got her yet, and you're already talking about losing her? What is this? Love at first sight?"
I looked away for a second. No. Not love.
Obsession.
When I didn't answer, he went quiet too. He kept looking straight at me, as if waiting for me to suddenly laugh and say, Hey, I was just kidding.
I stared back at him, hard and clear. No. I wasn't changing my mind.
