Roop's Pov
Agnihotri Villa
MondayWith a groan, I forced my eyes open, squinting against the morning light streaming through the window of my bedroom, painting everything in a warm, golden glow. For a moment, I laid still, savouring the quiet, until my phone buzzed beside me, pulling me back to reality. My hand instinctively reached for it, ignoring the open window and the chill seeping in.
It was a reminder-a gentle nudge from my to-do list to oversee a client's wedding arrangements today.
Weddings.
My mind immediately wandered to my own, which now seemed like a distant, postponed dream. And just like that, I was back in the chaos that took place last month.
The memories flooded back in, raw and vivid: the broken contract, the brutal confrontation, the letter that unraveled so much, my abduction, that motherfucker Rishabh, Aary's confession, the terrifying gunshot, the hospital... everything, all at once. It had been a week straight out of hell, a week that still haunted me every morning.
Since then, each day has fallen into a strange, exhausting rhythm. I'd wake up, replay the nightmare in my mind, brace myself, and head to the office. And every day, without fail, I'd go visit Aary. I couldn't go a single day without checking on him, without seeing for myself that he was okay.
That gunshot had shattered something inside me. No matter how often he reassured me, saying he'd been through worse, that he'd heal, the fear lingered, a silent ache I couldn't ignore.
I'd almost lost him, and that thought alone felt like a shadow I couldn't escape. So, I kept going to him, holding on, waiting for the day he'd truly be healed. Waiting for a time when I'd feel strong enough to finally talk about us. A conversation that I knew would change everything.Yesterday, like every morning, I went to the Malhotra Mansion. But Aary wasn't there. I searched his room, office, but he was nowhere. Even Maa didn't know that he had left to go somewhere. I couldn't stay long, though; work called. But I promised myself I'd see him today, no matter what. What could be so important than rest??
My thoughts were interrupted by the doorbell ringing. The house was empty-Maa, Krishika Bhabhi, and Bhai were out of town for a family event, and Papa had left for a business meeting, leaving me alone. Papa had been reluctant, but I convinced him to go since it was an important meeting. I'd asked Vedika to stay over with me for company, but that bitch was, as usual, in a deep sleep beside me. Lazy ass!!
Or so I thought. I reached over to wake her, only to find her side of the bed empty. Where has she disappeared to?
I dragged myself downstairs, barely awake, but as I reached the hall, my legs froze.
