ARORA MANSION

Sarla's Bedroom

Sitting on the comfy large brown couch were Sarla and her daughter Shrishti who lay comfortably on her lap, as she gently stroked her hair. They were chatting on and on about many things and just enjoying each other's company. Now their conversation had shifted to the impending nuptials of Tarun and Neha.

Sarla: Hopefully we'll soon be able to have the wedding and put this whole nightmare behind us.

Shrishti: hmmmm, I can't wait yaar

Sarla lightly pocked her head and clicked her tongue at her, making Shrishti giggle

Sarla : (Sighs) But....you know, all else aside..... I really am happy.

She said with a contented smile

Sarla: my Preeta and Karu will finally have a baby, my grandbaby. My Disha is home with my grandson and Purab.....and my Pragu has finally found her true love in King and she's happier than ever, Hopefully, I'll be getting some good news from them too soon.

Shrishti: oh don't worry about that, they've been working ✨very✨ hard on it

She said with a cheeky grin, taking her mother by surprise a little. Sarla turned red in embarrassment and pocked Shrishti's head

Sarla: ah ah, shameless girl. How can you say such things Infront of your mother

She scolded which only made Shrishti giggle more, but even the former chuckled a little at the silliness of the situation.

Sarla: all my children are doing well in their lives, happy and healthy....what more could a mother ask for?

Shrishti: Haan.

She mumbled as she closed her eyes.

There was silence for a moment as Sarla looked at her daughter..... seemingly debating something in her mind. After a moment she decided to speak out, but this time with a slightly more serious tone.

Sarla: Now, after Taru's wedding....all that'll be left is yours right?

The light smile on Shrishti's face faded away as she opened her eyes, meeting her mother's gaze.

Shrishti: yeah.... right.

She said as she rose and sat upright, visibly tense....which did not go unnoticed by Sarla.

Sarla : (Sighs) Shrishti?

She called firmly but softly, Shrishti who had her head down did not meet her gaze and mumbled in response.

Shrishti: hmmm?

Sarla cupped her face gently and made her face her

Sarla: Beta, tell me, what's wrong?

She asked with the utmost care and concern in her voice.

Shrishti: wrong? Nothing wrong Mom, I'm fine.

She said with a fake smile, but Sarla was not convinced.
