MARISOL's POV

most of la selección extended their trip to watch me play right now as they finally leave tomorrow.

i'll never understand how we were able to fit everyone but after some family went back to argentina, everyone got accommodated and it was so much fun because we'd have games in the backyard after dinner.

at least now we won't be feeding an extra thirteen.

we're going out the tunnel when everyone starts screaming and cheering. "i think you might've sold out the cruyff stadium, mari." i'm right next to lucy, last in line when she whispers me that.

although the totally capacity is 6,000, it never really filled and there used to be splotches of empty seats in the stands.

but tonight, there was none of that.

there wasn't one empty seat from what i could see. especially not the ones above the bench as i saw my family and friends... and pedri who actually showed up. all i could do was smile widely after we were called to shake hands and take the group picture before we got out into formation.

"como me va decir la arbitra que no fue falta?! me viera dado un tiro libre hace rato! (how is the ref gonna tell me that wasn't a foul?! she should've given me a free kick a while ago!)"

whatever the fuck is going with portales that she feels the need to foul me every given second even after i get up is something i cannot wrap my mind around.

so instead i sit here in the locker room at half time frustrated. "ya calmase (calm down already), mari."

i wish i could but i'm already wanting to go back out to show her what it's like but i guess i should listen to what jonatan has to say before we go back out for the second half.

after his own words, alexia shares some herself.

"se que es el primer partido de la temporada pero necesitamos que recordarles que somos campeonas de europa y que estamos listos defender nuestro título! (i know that it's the first game of the season but we need to remind them that we're the champions of europe and that we're ready to defend our title!)"

she truly is capi for a reason.

we all calmed down a little after being frustrated that we're more than ready for the second half.

like that, we're back out and i realized they only made one change, and that's jimena lopez on defense. i swear i never did anything to these people but they look like they'd bite me if they could.

"ya era tiempo, no crees? (it was time, don't you think?)"

although i no longer needed a free kick after my brace about seven minutes ago, it was finally given to me and all the ref did was fake laugh at my joke and roll her eyes at me.

i like her. at least she was honest.

there was only a minute left to the game and if i make this, we go home with a 3-0 win.
