9 days until going home...

Today I wanted to go surprise Shohei at his game. So I packed my bags and went to the airport. I've been here since early morning. I got a flight to Boston. Although, I won't be at the first game, I will certainly be at the second game. I hated going on airplanes because, all the things you have to go through before you board on the plane. I went through the hard part, and now I just wait for my plane. I bought my game ticket while I waited. I noticed that they had one more seat, and it was right next to the dug out. I bought it and that's when it really set in that I had to go through with this.

My plane was ready to board passengers. I'm so glad that I had brought my drawing pad. The flight was very long and grueling, but I made it through it. When my flight touched down. Everyone got off the plane. I hurried and went to baggage claims. I then headed outside to catch an Uber. Good thing my luggage was a book bag I had to take into the stadium. After going through all the security. One of the officers recognized me. "Ma'am, you don't have to sit in your assigned seat. There's a suite for wives and girlfriends that you can go up to." He offered. "Sure, I'd love too."

I looked behind me and there was a little kid who was a big fan of the Angels. "Please give the little kid my seat, and I'll pay for his parents." The gentleman nodded and charged my card for the two parents. I walked away and heard the little guy freaking out about sitting near the dug out. I went up to the suite and sat by myself until a couple of the women noticed. "You must be, Hannah. My name is Jessica, I'm Mike's wife. This is Carli, she is Tyler's wife. This is Casie, she's Cam's girlfriend. This is Jordan, she's the wife of Andrew. This is Lacey, she is Houston's wife. This is Danielle S., she is Matt's wife. This is Alexis, she is Garret's girlfriend. This is Danielle G., she is Jason's wife. This is Jennifer, she's Kole's wife. This is CJ's fiancé, Lisalla." She said as I shook all of their hands.

"Who's your significant other?" Alexis asked. "My boyfriend is Shohei." It still sounded so weird coming out of my mouth. "Oh my gosh, Shohei is such a sweetheart. From what I've seen so far, you're the same way!" I nodded. "Definitely, he was my childhood best friend." One of the girls tapped my shoulder and pointed at the big screen. I saw myself and I blushed. I waved at the camera. They switched it over to the dug out and Shohei's face turned red as he was smiling up at the suite. His teammates patted him on the back and messed his hair up. I laughed.

The game was almost over, and Shohei was the 4th at bat. I watched as he swung at the ball, not quite connecting. "Strike 1." Shohei took some time to fix his gloves and practice swinging. He had a lot of pressure on him because it is bottom of the 8th. It was 4-6, 3 men on base. He was looking up at me for assurance. "YOU CAN DO IT, OHTANI." Somehow he heard me and he nodded. He got into his stance as soon as the ball came towards him, he swung, and the ball soared deep into right field. I cheered with the other girls as I realized he just hit a grand slam home run. The crowd roared as he made his way to home plate. His teammates jumped all over him.

It was 8-6 and top of the 9th. Shohei was the closing pitcher. He was up against Mookie bets, the best on the Red Sox's . Shohei picked a play with the catcher and nodded his head. He threw a sinker, forcing Bets to swing prematurely. 0-1, I was so nervous. This was the game. "Cmon Shohei you can do this." I said to myself. He threw another sinker, and Bets nipped it. Making it 2 strikes. Shohei then did a fast ball in the middle, and he struck out Bets. He walked off and up came the next. He struck both hitters out. The Angels won.

The girls and I walked to the clubhouse and waited for our significant others to come out. I was so nervous to see Shohei. That's when the door opened and a familiar face came out. He dropped his stuff and picked me up, holding me in his arms. "What are you doing here? I was so happy to see you." I laughed. "I wanted to come see my boyfriend. It may have been a day, but I honestly don't want any more time to pass, and you aren't there." He blushed. "Likewise." I wrapped my arms around his neck and he kissed my forehead and looked into my eyes. "This isn't an advance towards you, but are you staying with me?" I nodded. "If that's okay with you." I said shyly.

A car pulled up and Shohei opened the door for me. I got in and he went in after me. We went to the hotel and the front desk stopped him. "Mr. Ohtani, you have a package." She said, handing it to him. He took it and looked at the box weird. He took it to his room. We got to his door and he let us in. "What the hell, I've never had nice hotel rooms like this!" He laughed. "They put us in suites. I never understood why, we are just here to sleep." He put his bag down and opened the box.

"Oooooooh!" He said. He grabbed the card. "To my sweet Shohei, I got your fav snacks while you're on the road. Please — don't take too long getting home. — Hannah." He laughed. "Yeah and now here you are." My face was burning. "I wanted to support you at your game." He pulled me closer while looking through the snacks. "You got me my favorite Japanese potato chips. How do you remember after all these years?" I shrugged. "I'm just that good."

He put the box away and grabbed my hand. He took me to the room service menu. "Order anything you'd like. We're going to have a movie night." I looked at the menu and nothing sounded good. "How's their Chinese food?" He had to think about it for a bit. "Their chicken tastes weird. Not only that, but they burned it to a crisp. Why? Are you desiring a Japanese dish?" I nodded. "Yes, please." He smiled and went to the kitchen and started making Udon. It was a dish with thick, chewy Japanese noodles made from wheat flour. Udon is a noodle soup with a broth made of soy sauce, dashi, and mirin. The toppings for udon are also seasonal, and they include tempura-battered vegetables, shrimps, sliced spring onions, fried tofu, or rice cakes. Let me just say it's some of the tastiest stuff!

"We have to make a grocery run to get the ingredients." He said getting his shoes on. We left and went to the grocery store on foot. He held my hand as we walked. He was so much taller than everyone, I could somewhat see over people due to being 5'9 (175.26 cm) but not by much. Many people stopped and started noticing Shohei. "Do you think it was the right move to walk you're gathering attention." I pointed out. He looked around. "Oh, I forgot that I'm a pro baseball player. I can't just walk outside." I laughed. Paparazzi started flashing cameras. "I didn't know you were into women of color, Shohei." One of the photographers. That was a bit offensive to me. "Why would you say that? Your ignorance is showing." He pulled me closer to him and guarded me. His face turned cold. I've never seen him like this. He gently moved me behind him.

"We didn't mean to anger you, sir, we were just asking." He ignored them and we reached the shop. We picked up everything we needed to and checked out. He carried all the groceries back to the hotel. I offered to grab a bag, but he wouldn't let me. We reached the hotel room, and the cooking began.
