Lasya

A deep rhythm,
Of drum beats,
Wakes me up,
From my meditation.

I open my eyes,
To search for my beloved,
Noticing that He is not around,
I get up to make my way outside.

The sound becomes louder,
When I am at the cave entrance,
It's cold and snowing outside,
Yet I feel a serene kind of warmth.

I step outside to have a clear view,
And there, under the moonlight,
I see a reflection dancing,
With swift movements and grace.

And although it usually brings fear,
But today, it's a different rhythm,
Creating tunes of love and divinity,
In the vast stretch of the Kailash.

The stars light up the sky,
Shimmering like silver,
Ice and snow, music and beats,
Like a splendid show of nature.

I can't contain my excitement,
And run towards the source,
There I see Him dancing,
Lord Nataraj, in His full glory.

He sees me approaching,
And receives me with a warm smile,
He offers His hand forward,
To take mine in His.

As soon as He touches my hand,
My other wise cold fingers,
Immediately feel the warmth,
And my body is ready to dance.

I close my eyes,
Immersing myself in the music,
My hands move gracefully,
Complementing His every pose.

Step by step, beat by beat,
Footprints engraved in the snow,
Will tell the tales of our love,
Through epochs and millenniums.

When He bends,
I bend in unison,
When He jumps,
I jump in alignment.

When He raises His arm,
I raise mine in sync,
When He smiles at me,
I smile and reciprocate His love.

At the final step,
When He pauses,
He holds me closer,
Next to His heart.

I know He is happy,
To express His love through dance,
And He speaks to me softly,
To express His love through words.

"Parvati, this dance of love,
The Ananda Tandava,
Will be remembered forever,
For you're the creator of Lasya."
