Mable loved University so far! She especially couldn't wait to meet her roommate! She was running very late today.
Mable sat on her bed, and looked at flashcards of different animal body parts. "Umm.. a monkeys thigh! Dang it... kinkajou's thigh.." she muttered to herself.
The door of her Dorm swung open and a girl, with short, black hair with a strand of blue, bright green eyes, who wore a dark jean jacket over a black t-shirt and denim shorts, walk in, dragging a lot of stuff followed by a tall, dark haired boy with bright green eyes and he wore a jean jacket over a black hoodie and denim jeans. They looked like twins. "Hi! You must be Mable!" The girl gasped. "I'm Mackie, and this is my twin brother, Aaron! Of course he's not moving in with us, yet I'm sure he wished he had a girl as his roommate, this creep. I'm sorry, I don't wanna give him a bad impression, he's a great brother, great person, you should totally like him! Are you in love yet? Just kiddin, seriously if you date him, that would be my worst nightmare, but no worries! No girl would ever love this knock-off of a man!"
Mable stared at her blankly. She thought she rambled when she met strangers, but she just found a new challenger! "Oh it's fine! I'm Mable and no, I'm not in love with your brother, how weird would that be!? I mean, eww!" She laughed. Mackie smiled, and looked relieved that Mable wasn't freaked out. "When I said you should try talkin more, I meant small, normal stuff. Not goin on and on about me!" Her brother, Aaron sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. He and Mackie looked exactly alike! They even sounded the same, with their Boston accents. Mable giggled and Mackie rolled her eyes. "Sorry, my sister's usually very quiet and insociable. On the way here, I told her to talk more, but I did not know she'd go on about me!" He blushed.
"Oh, is big baby Aaron embarrassed?" Mackie said in a baby voice, pinching his cheeks. Aaron rolled his eyes, and tossed her things into the room. "I'll see you around Mable, and good luck with her. She's a hand full." He smirked. Mackie playfully slapped his back as he left the room and turned to Mable. "I'm sorry, was my first impression a bit too much?"
"I- a little. You kind of came off as a crazy person. But I love crazy!" Mable piped.
"Awesome! You seem like a total weirdo! I like that."
Mable smiled. "I only acted like that, though, to embarrass my brother. I, like, never talk that much." Mackie explained. "In fact, I'm thirsty. You got some water?"
"Well,"
"Scratch that, we got a bathroom."
Mackie walked into the bathroom and cupped her hands, as the faucet poured out water. Mable watched as she downed the water and got it everywhere. This girl certainly was a handful. Mable loved it! "You want a cup?"
"Nah!"
Mable giggled and sat back down onto her bed. The door swung open again, and Aaron stormed in. "MACKIE!" He bellowed. She stepped out of the bathroom with a smug expression. "Did you tell my roommate that I sometimes have 'accidents' and sometimes need a little assistance with my midnight 'wetsies'!?"
Mable stifled a giggled. "It is possible." Mackie smirked. "You see, Mable, sometimes he-"
"Sometimes nothing! Stop talkin to people about me, when the stuff isn't even true! Mable, I haven't wet the bed since I was eight!" He defended.
"Okay! I honestly don't care, I just love this sibling banter." She laughed. Aaron rolled his eyes. "Leave my stuff alone, Mackie! I'm sorry Mable, have a nice day."
"Wait, Aaron! Stay for a bit. Let's all get to know each other, considering this'll be a daily thing." Mackie grinned.
"Daily!?" Aaron winced.
Mable giggled, but was interrupted by a phone's ding. Mackie checked hers and changed to a grim expression. "Another kid went missin." She Said, glumly.
"What do you mean another kid?" Mable asked, feeling like she was missing some big details.
"Recently lots of kids have gone missing. Mostly brown haired boys, dark haired girls, and blonde girls. This kidnapper has a type." Aaron chuckled. Mackie hit him in the arm. "What? I'm times of trouble, have a chuckle! That's what grandpa said!"
"Yeah, and he was shot in the chest cause the intruder found him in the closet havin a good laugh!"
Mable sat there, and stared at them blankly. "Do the police have any suspects?"
Aaron sat forward. "Nope. In fact, the police are no help! Half the people looking are dumb twelve year olds that think they're Sherlock Holmes."
Mackie cracked a small smile. "Speaking of twelve year olds, I mean, I don't wanna be rude or nothin, but are you like a really smart kid or extremely short?"
Mable rolled her eyes. "I'm just really short. It um, it runs in my jeans."
Mackie nodded. Mable caught Aaron kind of staring at her with a strange look in his eyes, but ignored it. "So, are you guys going to figure out anything about the kids going missing?"
"How would we? We're just a couple of nineteen year olds who have nothin better to do than drink liquor and hang out with friends." Aaron shrugged.
"YES! I KNEW- I knew I recognized you! You're eh-you're that girl! That girl that was on the news!"
Aaron stared at his sister like she was crazy. "Ya know, after the apocalypse? You're friend stopped the-eh-the leak!"
"Oh! Oh, you did that?"
Aaron looked at her, deep in the eyes, and she felt a weird feeling in the pit of her stomach. "Yeah I did. Of course, I had the help of my friends." She blushed.
"Well I'm that case, yeah! I wanna do this! Let's find some missin kids! You get your friends to help us though, we're gonna need em." Mackie advised. Mable nodded, and grabbed her phone. "Wait, won't they be in school?" Aaron noted.
"I'll call them tomorrow, and Aaron you'll come over here again with us, when they come, okay? Unless, you don't wanna be a part of this." She said, with a pleasing expression.
"Yeah, I'll do it. I'll see you two tomorrow!" He smiled, as he left the room. The rest of the day flew by! Mable helped Mackie unpack her bags and they got their room sorted. On one side of the room, there were pictures of Mable with her friends, posters of girly boy bands, and a very brightly and neon sheeted bed.
On the other side of the room, there were posters for bands like green day and social distortion, pictures of Mackie and Aaron, and a bed with Black and navi blue sheets. "What's next, my little pony?" Mackie teased, as she rolled out another poster.
"What's next, a poster about gothic girls?"
Mackie stopped rolling, and began rolling it back up, causing Mable to burst out in laughter.
After they finished their room, they found where all their classes were gonna be, and they ran into Aaron talking to a younger friend, who looked around Julie and Alex's age. "Hey, this is Jack." Aaron introduced.
The boy had messy blonde hair, and a bit of a smirk. "Tell 'em about today." Aaron suggested to his friend.
"Well, I met this girl in the hallway. She was blonde and kind of tall, she looked totally bummed out, and she bumped into me and was like, 'sorry!' and then I called her cupcake, she was so angry it was hilarious!" He laughed. Mable giggled. "Jack was wondering if he could join our investigation." Aaron continued.
"Of course! The more, the better!" Mable smiled. Mackie shrugged. "But no callin' me cupcake. Or you'll regret it." She advised.
Mable giggled, and the day went on. More meeting people, supper, hangout with Aaron and Jack, snack, and then the day was over. "Best. First. Day. Ever." Mable sighed.
