As Julie woke up, Alex was relieved to finally fill her in. "What's going on?" Julie yawned.
"Mackie's missing.." Alex muttered. Alex could hardly understand it herself. She really wanted to find out who it was doing this much more. "What!? Do they know anything?" Julie gasped.
"Not yet, just a sec. Mable, we'll be there as soon as possible!"
Alex hung up. "Get dressed we're leaving in twenty minutes!"
"Are we picking up Adam?"
"Blondie already is."
"Do you mean Jack?" Julie giggled.
"No, he doesn't deserve a real name." Alex teased. Julie looked like that annoyed her. Everyone was saying they'd be the perfect couple and joking about them, but they were just friends! Blo- Jack was just a flirt there was no way he actually truly liked Alex.
Julie threw on her ripped hoodie and denim jeans and Alex wore a white t-shirt and some sweat pants. What? It was Saturday. They ate breakfast as fast as they could, and hopped into the car.

When they arrived, Aaron was sitting on Mackie's bed and Mable had her arm around him, which looked a little funny because she had to reach up higher. Jack and Adam were sitting on Mable's bed, and talking about Alex and Julie, until Alex clapped her hands and they turned to them blushing. "You're saying all good things I hope?" Julie joked.
"Oh, I was just saying how beautiful you are." Adam flirted, coming to kiss Julie on the forehead and hug her.
"I was just sharing that we're totally in love!" Jack said with a smug expression, getting up. Everyone giggled and looked at Alex for her reaction. "Oh, you're a flirt and a liar? That's not a good look, Blondie."
He rolled his eyes, and sat back down. "Sorry we couldn't be here sooner! So, what're we doing to figure this out?" Alex asked, sitting beside Jack.
"Well, Mackie said she was going for a walk down to the gas station, to get a coffee. She was wearing a jean jacket, black ripped jeans, and no shoes." Mable informed.
"Why couldn't she just get a coffee from the cafeteria here? And why no shoes?" Adam questioned.
"Funny story actually! I told her about the cafeteria and how it has coffee, but she said she liked the gas station coffee better, because it has a certain taste to it, that says, 'I'm very old and will give you a disease.' and she started walking out the door without shoes and I said, don't you want shoes? And she said, 'today I become one with the hippies! Besides, there's this cute guy at the gas station counter who always smells like smoke and he totally digs staring a people's feet. So sketchy!' I just hope she was joking about being attracted to him." Mable shrugged.
"We should go down to the gas station and on the way there, look for any evidence that she was there or something of hers was left that could lead us to her." Alex suggested.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Aaron demanded, standing up. "My sister is out there, for all we know, she could be dead, so what are we waiting for!? Let's go out there and find her!"
"Aaron, we have to do this smartly, we can't just hop out there and go with the flow." Mable reasoned.
"What do you mean? We have a plan! Follow her tracks and look for evidence!"
"Aaron," Mable tried.
"I'm looking for her , I don't have time to sit around here and wait. I want to find my sister."
He began to walk away, until Adam shouted, "Hurry! Parking lot! NOW!"
He bolted out the door at full speed, motioning for the others to follow. Julie ran after him, along with Aaron. "Alex, Jack, stay here!" Mable instructed.
"What!? No!" Alex argued.
"Yes! Stay!"
Mable ran off. Alex started to get up, but Jack pulled her down. "Cupcake, they'll be fine out there. Mable wants us here, so we'll stay here."
"You just what me here so you can flirt more!"
Jack shrugged. "Maybe.. but I also want you here so I know you're safe." He said, looking deep into her eyes. She felt very strange. She wasn't sure if he truly liked her, or if he was just very good at being flirtatious. She broke eye contact before he came any closer. "Don't do that..." Alex scoffed.
"Do what?" Jack questioned, like he was doing nothing.
"Act like you actually care about me. You're just some boy that saw the typical blue eyed blonde, and felt the urge to flirt. You don't like me, so don't act like it. We hate each other."
"I don't hate you, cupcake. And I don't pretend when it comes to liking girls."
Alex felt a little bit sick. She didn't like Jack at all, and she certainly didn't want him to like her. "You don't gotta like me back.. I can see you gotta type for heartbreakers." He smiled, meeting her eyes. He acted like he didn't care, but Alex saw the slightest bit of sadness in his eyes. "Sorry.." she muttered.
"It ain't your fault. I'm used to not being wanted."
     "What do you mean?"
"I'm an orphan. Adults don't want a teenager, and girls don't really dig the poor, mischievous, scarred boys unless they're teenagers from Disney channel." He joked. Alex smiled. She felt sorry for him. She wished he was wrong, but even without knowing that, she just wasn't attracted to him although he acted quite similar to Damian when they met at the cafe. "I'm sure you'll find the right girl for you." She comforted. His smile faltered for a split second and she saw the slightest bit of heart break in his eyes for the tiniest bit. "Yeah, of course. You'll find the right guy too."
The awkward silence finally was broken by her phone ringing. "Hello-"
"GET OUTSIDE NOW! Adam's unconscious and we almost caught the kidnapper!" Julie screamed. Alex looked at Jack and his heart broken eyes were full of anger. "Let's go!" He said, running for the door.
"We'll be there right away, Julie!"
