In the waiting room, Mable felt partly excited. She was praying that Jalex was finally starting at this moment, but when Alex came back out of the room, staring at the ground, and not the slightest bit in love, she was highly disappointed. "Did you kiss!?" Mable gasped. Alex stopped abruptly. "Did we wha-"
"Did Jack ruin the moment by being a total softy and forgetting the point of flirting?" Mackie questioned.
"I don't-"
"Did you make the moment awkward, and sit in silence for a bit?" Julie snickered.
"Did Jack confess that he'd do anything for you?" Aaron asked, holding his hands to his heart.
"Did none of that happen?" Adam shrugged.
"We uh.. we did not kiss, he um... He didn't ruin the moment, I did make it awkward, he said he liked me.. and I turned him down because I don't feel the same, and so here's your answers." Alex blushed, obviously very embarrassed. Mable and Adam paid the others their five bucks. "You guys bet on us!?"
They stared at Alex blankly. "Jalex. It is our life purpose to annoy you and make Jalex happen." Mable shrugged. She could've sworn she heard Aaron say something under his breath like, 'or make Marrble happen.' But she ignored it. They sat in the waiting room for hours, while explaining the situation to Jack's parents, and getting lectures from their parents on how they should've just called the cops. Mable was starting to head back to college, when Mackie came up to her. "Hey, Mable! I'm not going back to the dorm today, but tomorrow I'm going to come and get my things. My parents want me to stay home and recover from my trauma that I apparently have." She sighed.
"What do you mean apparently? Aren't you scarred from being kidnapped and almost murdered?"
"Why would I be? The guy behind the dog mask was hot!" Mackie laughed. Mable shook her head, surprised she even asked. Aaron came over, gave his sister a certain look, she gave him a look back, and they basically had a mini conversation by moving around their eyebrows and eyelids. Mackie walked away. "Hey.." Aaron smiled.
"Hi! Today was.. eventful." Mable giggled.
"Yep.. I just want to say thanks. I wouldn't have found Mackie if it weren't for you and your friends."
"Of course! I love helping people, it's the least I could do."
"If you went missing instead of Mackie, I probably wouldn't have been as eager to find you, but after all of today, I'd probably be even more eager to find you rather than her."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"I mean if some guy was hurting my sister, I'd wanna save her, but if some guy was hurting you, I'd want to kill him."
"No offence, but with your spaghetti arms?" Mable giggled. Aaron smiled. "Mable, I like you.. a lot. And, I couldn't stand to see you hurt."
Mable blushed so much, she thought her face would melt off from the heat in her cheeks. "I um.." she stammered. She glanced at his skinny body. "I like your spaghetti arms! They're.. cool."
Aaron looked heart broken. "I'm sorry, Aaron! I don't- I hardly- I don't even know how I feel about you yet."
"I understand.. it's um, it's fine. I'm sorry. It's been like two days I just um-"
"Aaron I'm really sorry!"
"Is fine.. I'll see you later."
And with that, Aaron walked away, with his shoulders slumped and he looked shattered. Mable was seriously considering booking a doctor appointment because of the thumping in her chest.
Stupid elf! She thought to herself.
