POV Kaitlyn

The car started off and do to limited seating space I was curled up in Eric's lap. One of my arms hugged my stomach for comfort while the other gripped Eric's hand. There was a silence not necessarily awkward, but just quite. The windshield wipers were squeaking back and forth rhythmically, and you could hear the sloshing of water outside. "Um, if you don't mind me asking, who are you?" Paige asked wearily.

"I'm sorry, I hadn't thought to introduce myself, I'm Jane. I was summoned to your realm a few hours ago, I'm glad I came upon you the way I did. I thought it would take me hours to locate you otherwise." Jane proclaimed joyfully. 'Well thanks strange elderly woman who gave me more questions than answers...'

"Uh, why would you seek us out?" Axel asked questioningly.

"Because I am your guardian angel, deary." I then thought of a question and without thinking I asked.

"Wait, doesn't everyone have their own guardian?" I questioned.

"Seriously, we find out there is an angel in the car and that is your first question?" Eric whispers into my ear with a chuckle. I stick my tongue out at him.

"Since you all are bound by the crystals, your souls are intertwined together in an intricate weaving. It's a little hard to explain," She paused. "Angels are assigned to one independent souls, but since your soul's are connected and each is dependent on the other to survive, you are considered dependent souls. But your souls together create an independent soul, so I am a Guardian angel of all of you." She said calmly, obviously satisfied that she could put that to words.

"Did anyone else feel like they got an algebra lesson with this dependent crap?" Tara asked. Everyone gave a low chuckle. There was a small silence. And as I glanced at my friends I noticed that Carters expression was a look of thoughtfulness and confusion. It was a look I've learned. He was about to ask a question because he didn't understand something. I guess the best word for it would be 'quizzical'. Normally he would have that face when one of our band of friends made a Joking comment. He would proceed on telling you how that was unrealistic, if that face didn't appear he would say a dirty joke which would normally be pointed towards a certain couple which becomes annoying. I watched as he opened his mouth to speak.

"If you don't mind me asking, why are you and elderly woman then, and where are your angelic wings?" He asked. Everyone except Jane turned towards him with shocked eyes. Paige slapped him. Carter rubbed the red spot appearing on his face. Childishly glaring at Paige.

"We don't want to offend an angel." Paige whispered, but it wasn't as quiet as it should have been.

"Don't worry deary, I don't get offended easily. I know this must all be confusing, but I encourage you to hold your questions until we arrive."

"Arrive where, exactly?" Eric asked.

"My house, dear!" Exclaimed Jane with a laugh, as if it was an obvious question. "Oh and as for your question Carter, I can choose which ever form I desire." as the last words left her lips she transformed into a young woman, gone was the short, curly, grey hair. Replaced with long, straight, red hair. Even her clothing transformed from baggy floral patterns to tight slimming jeans and black low cut shirt that complimented her hair. Her wrinkles were gone as well as the fat that normally comes with age. "Is this better?" She asked. Her sweet grandmother like warmth in her voice was gone, replaced with a higher pitched, cold voice. She sounded as if she would spit out a nasty comment about any girl that passed.

I turned to my friends to see all of the boys gawking, I think I saw drool on Chase's chin. When I saw Eric I punched his side. Of course I wasn't strong enough to throw a punch really, it should be called an angry nudge I guess, but that's beside the point. He turned towards me and his face was a bright red that was one good thing about being tan, normally I could hide a blush butmy friends aren't as tan so you can see even a hint of red on their fair skin, with the exception of Carter, but he was still slightly lighter than me.
