POV Micheal
The next morning we had been awoken by the soft playing of music. Elegant harp strumming, magnificent flutist melodies whispering through the air, and the low whimsical song of the clarinet. I slipped out of the white silk sheets and walked to the open window, placing both hands on the stone leaning out a little to catch a deep breathe of the passing breeze, and closed my eyes as I inhaled. When my eyes opened my gaze met that of the grass clearing encircled by the oak trees, the path wound up to the edge of the clearing. The stones only barely seemed to glow in the mornings orange glow. I turned my gaze down to the sanctuary, graceful beings glide down the streets, smiling and conversing quietly. There was a small stage that held the small orchestra that filled the air with peaceful song.
I could hear the others slowly coercing themselves out of their dreams. "Good morning" Karen had mumbled through a yawn.
We had decided to walk to the eating pavilion. I took another moment to marvel at the fact that the food appeared. I had a ham omelette with a warm cup of hot chocolate to sip along with it.
As we were taking our last few succulent bites of our morning meal, Asmodel had glided to our table. Today she wore faint lilac color robed dress that opened slightly below the knees and flowed behind her as she walked. Her green eyes were soft and kind as she approached, us. She took a seat at the edge of the table, beside Riley, and began to speak. "Good morning warriors," She greeted. "I hope you are all well rested for your first day of training." She said smiling.
My face was full of melted cheese and egg, and I almost choked it out onto my plate. I took a sip of my hot chocolate to wash it down. The questioning remarks and looks had already been dribbling out of our lips.
I finally felt like I could relax, like we could sit down and figure out what we were going to do with ourselves. But we were going to be thrown into some kind of training program, and for what?
"You can't kill Lucifer if you're clueless." She eyes wide with alarm by our ignorance. My thoughts were racing with what had happened at that mansion. The quest they too, wanted to send us on.
"Um... isn't that what those demons wanted us to do?" Karen voiced my thoughts.
"What are you talking about?" She asked, a faint hint of a worry crossing across her fair face.
"We arrived from a mansion full of what I assume is rebel demons. They had tried to convince us to destroy the devil as well." Charles explained. She sat quietly as she processed what we had said. She stood up quickly her posture showed a confident determination as she strode of the pavilion towards the front gate.
"Follow me," She beckoned without so much as a glance. The Silver gate was already beginning to open its own, but Asmodel easily flung the doors to the side. The already stiff Arch angels straightened themselves even more at her arrival. She strode out towards our demon companions who were making breakfast over the fire.
Asmodel was moving quickly and purposefully It was very surprising and unlike the woman I had met last night. This woman was intimidating, fierce, and tenacious. You could tell just by the way she now held herself. Taryn's facial expression showed that she was defensive. She quickly stood up, her eyes defiant at the approaching angel.
Worry, and uncertainty flashed in Elaina's eyes. She had been bent by the fire, and slowly stood up. Her eyes moved between Asmodel and us who followed. We stood behind the immortal creature timidly, as if we were clueless ducklings who followed their mother, too afraid to wander farther.
"You came from the rebel horde," She accused. "Leave!" Her voice was dark, furious, authoritative, and powerful. Taryn narrowed her eyes at the command with defiance.
"And if I don't? You gonna glare me to death?" She retorted sarcastically.
"Your kind plans to destroy any hope humanity has, You have no business near any of the favored." She hissed.
"Then why rescue and guide them here to this sanctuary?" Elaina defended.
" I don't have to understand your chicanery to see it as it is, it's what your breed was created for." She vexed.
"All I've ever wanted to do was to do good!" Elaina growled indignantly. "Talk to me like I'm a creature capable of doing more than destruction, Your kind is supposed to be loving. Even you Savior showed compassion to the demons!" She seethed. The last comment had caught the angel off guard, and it was as if a large gust of wind had knocked at her.
Asmodel took a few moments to compose herself, straightening her posture and brushing off any invisible dust that lurked on her robes. "Lets all sit and chat in the temple." She finally said with a curt smile.
