AN INTRODUCTION

I woke up to the sound of irritating beeping. I opened my eyes, but when a blinding light greeted me, reflexes made me blink a few times. Once my vision cleared and the spots from my vision dissapeared, my pupils beheld a bright surgical lamp.

Cadmus?

I panicked and sat up, ignoring my side yelling in pain to protest. Looking to my left, a heart monitor stood, connected to my arm with a needle inserted in my inner elbow.

Not Cadmus.

Several computer holograms were displayed on a desk near the monitor. Squinting my eyes to look closer, it looked like a hologram of an x-ray.

Looking away from the x-ray, I see that my legs are covered with a starch white hospital sheet. I try to maintain steady breaths as I ripped the sheet from my legs. I expected my mutilated leg to greet me.

What?

My leg was fully intact. No cuts or bruises, not even a scar. I come to the conclusion that I must've been unconscious for my leg to fully heal.

My thoughts were interrupted with the sound of the door handle jiggling before clicking open. The door swung open, and I caught a glimpse of my visitor before he walked in, not making a single sound.

The man wore a long black cape, with a gray suit with a bat symbol on the front. My eyes traveled to his head. A cowl covered most of his face, ending on top with two points.

Batman.

He moved to the edge of the bed, an ominous aura surrounding him. I moved backwards towards the backboard of the bed, slightly shaken.

"You're lucky to be alive." he says, his voice gruff and smooth at the same time. "Our X-Rays show that it appears you fell from a height, and it didn't end well."

"It also showed that you had at four ribs broken, your right kneecap was basically dust, and your left shoulder was dislocated."

I clear my throat. "Then how did I heal so fast? I wasn't unconscious for three months, was I?"

"Three days."

"Before you start asking questions: a Justice League member sped up the healing process. You are in the Watchtower, the Justice League's outer-space headquarters. Your vitals are stabilized."

He suddenly walked up to the door and swung the door open. "Follow me." he said, holding the door open with a gloved hand.

I stood up, expecting to fall and meet the floor. Instead, my knees and feet were firm on the tiled floor.

I walked cautiously to the door, and took the handle from Batman. He walked past me, and I followed.

The vigilante stopped in a large hall. In the middle of the room were about 3 holographic computers with matching holographic keyboards accompaning them.

Batman connected a flash drive to one of the computers via his glove. The computer loaded for a few seconds before a diagram of a molecule came up, alongside a picture of one of the red-liquid filled tubes I had seen the other night.
