LIAR LIAR

I slammed down my card down on the gray floor of the Cave. Beast Boy's eyes widened as he read my card, which was an Ace.

"No fair!" He yelled.

"It's fair," I smirked. "You just can't accept that I'm winning."

Garfield was silent for a few seconds, before his face lit up. "I'll be right back, I have to, uh-use the restroom."

"Okay..." I drawled, a bit suspicious.

Once he left the room, I looked at Nightwing, who was indulged in deciphering something. He was murmuring to himself, dragging his finger across the holographic screen.

Suddenly, I heard buzzing near my left ear. I swatted at the source of the sound subconsciously.

But the buzzing started again, over my shoulder.

There are no bees in the Cave, I realized suddenly.

I whipped my head around and got my first good look at the bee. It had green stripes, and a red collar near the wings.

"You're cheating!" I screeched, standing up. I pointed an accusing finger at Garfield, who had turned back into himself in shock.

"You can't prove anything."

"Are you kidding me? I literally saw you! Nightwing tell him not to cheat."

"Blizzard, you're cheating." Nightwing said in a daze, his gaze locked on the computer.

I rolled my eyes in exasperation.

Then Robin walked in. "Hey," he said, jogging up to Nightwing. "Is that the Krolortean Intel?" "What Krolotean Intel?" I asked, walking up next to Nightwing.

"The files M'gann and Martian Manhunter recovered on Malina Island before it was destroyed."

"Huh." Garfield, who had walked next to Robin, said. "Noted." I turned and glared at him. He gulped.

"Apparently the Kroloteans were snatching humans to use as guinea pigs. They were hoping to find something. Something inside us." Nightwing said.

The room was silent for a few seconds, before Robin piped up. "What?"

"There's no english word for it. The nearest translation is meta-gene." Nightwing answered slowly.

"What's a meta-gene?" I asked.

Garfield got closer to me and rubbed his elbow on my arm playfully. "Never met a gene I didn't like!"

"Hilarious." I said sarcastically. "You still cheated."

Suddenly, the lights in the Cave turned red. "Unknown energy impulse detected."

"What-" I was cut off as a big capsule suddenly appeared out of thin air. It landed on the ground softly.

Nightwing pushed Robin, Garfield, and I back behind him. "Stand ready." He warned, not even remotely affected by the fact that the capsule had just appeared out of seemingly nowhere.
