GIRL POWER (?)

Loud banging woke me from my nap. As the sound grew louder, I clenched my pillow to my head tighter.

This dream is unusually loud, I sleepily thought.

"Blizzard!" screamed a voice outside my door.

I hope tomorrow's dream isn't as loud.

"It's important!" The voice yelled. After screaming into my pillow, I slid out of the gray covers and walked to the door. I punched in the keycode, and my door slid open. Bumblebee stood there, crossings her arms, looking aggravated.

I leaned against the doorway. "Can I help you?" I tried to snap sleepily.

"Mission. Meet at the garage in five." She said.

I yawned and nodded. Karen's eyes narrowed as she studied me. "Were you sleeping?"

I smacked my lips twice sleepily to answer her. Karen raised an eyebrow. "Okay...just get ready. Four minutes."

I stepped back and slammed the door, to communicate my unhappiness about this situation. I ran to the bathroom, pulling my suit out a drawer on the way. I brushed my teeth, the mint stinging my gums. Cringing, I spit out the mix of toothpaste and water.

I pulled on my suit and boots and made my usual frost mask. I pulled my hair back into its sleek ponytail. As I walked to my door, something rattled in my thigh compartment. I reached in and pulled out a silver tube.

Canary gasped. "Before I forget," she reached into a pocket on her jacket and pulled out a silver tube. "It's red lipstick. Put it on your lips, and it'll complement your light skin tone and suit."

I uncapped it. A bright red was nested inside the silver tube. With a few swipes, I applied it to my bottom lip. I then pressed my lips onto one another.

Let's hope it doesn't smear.

I opened my door and ran towards the garage as fast as my legs could take me. By the time I made it to the garage, I knew my five minutes were up. I put my hands on my knees and panted.

Well, at least I tried, I thought, exhausted.

Raising my eyes, I saw M'gann, Karen, and Batgirl staring down at me. I smiled sheepishly.

"Hi."

"You're late." Batgirl said. "By forty-three point eight seconds."

I tried my best to ignore her, and turned to M'gann. "Are we leaving?" I asked.

"No, not everyone is here ye-"

"I'm here!" Cassie's voice echoed through the room. She ran towards us. I could see that as she ran, she was adjusting a black headband into her golden hair.

Batgirl scowl deepened, Bumblebee crossed her arms, and Miss Martian lips twitched as she shook her head fondly.

"Glad you decided to join us, Cassandra." Karen said. Cassie's cheeks turned red at the mention of her full name, and she bit her lip. I heard her mummer, something about school and having another life.
