A lot on the mind

Hermione sat in transfiguration but she was somewhere else. Where was she getting these shocks of courage? She would have never spoken to a teacher the way that she did to Snape.

"Miss Granger?"

Hermione was pulled out of her daze. "Yes?"

"Would you care to tell the class what has your attention more than my lesson?" McGonagall asked crossing her arms across her chest.

"I'm sorry Professor. I just have a lot on my mind."

The day went on with the same distraction. She was able to make it through the rest of her classes unnoticed. It was hard for her to concentrate when she knew she had to see Snape again that night. And every night after for the two weeks that she was aware of. She didn't know if her recent "outburst" would add anymore detentions into her load.

"Hello Hermione." Luna came and sat next to her at dinner. "My, you aren't looking too good. Have you gone near any wracksburts lately?"

"Um... not that I'm aware of."

"Well maybe you should look into it. My father wrote a whole article about it in the latest quibbler. I could give you a copy if you'd like." Luna gave her a big smile.

"Why not? Thanks Luna." With that, Luna jumped up and bounced out of the great hall.

Hermione just poked her food with her fork the rest of the evening at dinner. She hadn't had much of an appetite since she collapsed. It was embarrassing. She had show weakness before but she was able to control how much. This time, it was all out on the table, and she was humiliated. Had it been someone her age or someone close like Molly weasley, she would have been okay. But this was Snape. The cold heartless teacher that doesn't care about anyone or anything.

"He obviously cared enough to help me up." Hermione thought to herself. "He wouldn't have done that before. And his hands were softer than I imagined they'd be. Oh stop it Hermione. Just go to detention and get it over with."

Hermione sighed and stood up. She slowly made her way out of the great hall and down to the dungeons.
