Things were going smoothly at Hogwarts. Hermione was excelling wonderfully in her apprenticeship with professor Flitwick, she was able to keep up on all her schoolwork, and also keep time for her friends and Severus.

The year was coming to a close and the weather was getting much warmer. Hermione and Severus had made it a habit to go on walks in the evenings and talk about her work with Flitwick as well Severus' rants about his first year students.

One evening, Hermione took them on a slight detour down towards the lake where she sat on a rock just near the water. She stared out at the still water and smiled. This did not go unnoticed by Severus. He smirked and asked what on earth she could be smiling at.

"Remember in my fourth year, when I was a pawn in the triwizard tournament and I was stuck down there?" She leaned into him and he wrapped his arm around her shoulder. "This place is just full of surprises. I can't believe that I get to make my life here. I get to live here every school year and make a difference in children's lives. I get to teach and see all the wonderful surprises this place still has to offer."

"You are a strange one." Severus laughed and she playfully punched him in his chest.

"Im serious! This is where I want to be. Mainly..." She looked down and blushed a little. "Because I have you."

Severus offered a soft smile and kissed her on the cheek. "Well I'm glad you feel that way darling." She looked at him confused as he stood but then slowly got to his knee.

Her hand slowly went to cover her mouth as his hand reached into his robe pocket to pull out a small little box.

"Hermione Jean Granger, you have made me the happiest man alive. I never knew I could love until I truly met you."

Tears began to roll down Hermione's cheek as she giggled a little.

"You are the love of my life, and I cannot imagine living another day without you, so...." He took a deep breath in and opened the box revealing a small ring. "Hermione, will you marry me?"

Hermione quickly leaned in, cupping his face, and kissed him. "Of course! Nothing would make me happier!"

She giggled again as he removed the rig from the box and slipped it onto her left hand. It fit perfectly and they exchanged another kiss before she went back to admiring it sitting on her finger.

"You cannot believe how hard it was to keep this from you!" He said sitting next to her again. "I actually had Minerva keep a hold of it in her office."

"So those have been your extremely long meetings?" Hermione laughed as she recalled his happiness after being in professor McGonagalls's office for hours at a time. "Well you had me surprised."

They sat for a long time at the water holding hands and cuddling as they watched the water. Severus would occasionally lean in and peck her on the cheek which she would take more than willingly.

The sun was beginning to set over the mountains and the crickets began to sing. Severus stood and offered her his hand. She took it and they began a slow walk back to the castle.

It was the perfect night. Hermione couldn't have asked for it any other way. She was going to be Mrs. Severus Snape.

If someone had asked her several years ago what she thought her life would be like, she would have never guessed this. She would have been working at the ministry of magic doing some important job that used all her intellectual skills and been too busy to find a companion, but this... This was so much better than she could have ever imagined. It was a dream come true. She was going to marry the man of her dreams, and work in the place where she could make a difference. She was going to be... Perfect.

Hermione kissed Severus goodnight and quickly ran up to the Gryffindor common room. She ran in and found Ginny and Neville lounging on the couch. They looked at her strangely before she squealed and held out her hand for them to see the ring on her finger.

They may have not given her the reaction she wanted, but they smiled and congratulated her. They hugged her and told her how excited they were. She didn't care that it was all she got, because all that mattered was her and Severus' future together.

I hope you all enjoyed this chapter! I'm sorry that I'm kind of a random poster but I try! We're close to wrapping up! Hope you all like where this is going! 😘

Ok! So this is the ring that I have always imagined for Hermione. It's very simple but also very elegant. I think that it fits her personality perfectly!
