Hermione sat alone in her hospital room in a chair that looked out the window. It was raining. The sky was dark and the large drops hit loudly against the window.

She rubbed her arms, feeling the new cuts that would soon become new scars in a sea of many. How awful she must look. Covered in scars showing the years of abuse and torture. The word "mudblood" etched in her skin forever reminding her of where she came from in a negative light.

Her back ached. All she wanted was to soak in a large hot tub with her mothers lovely smelling salts. Her mother still had no idea that Hermione was hurt. She still believed that she was back at Hogwarts probably having a large lunch with her friends while spilled over a book.

She was pulled out of her thoughts when there was a small knock at the door. She turned to see who it was and Ginny slowly stepped into the dark room.

"Hello Hermione."

Hermione turned away, not to be rude, but to pull their conversation closer to her.

Ginny came in and sat on the corner of the bed facing Hermione. She gave a weak smile as she looked Hermione over. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because you would have stopped me. You didn't like this relationship from the beginning and I know you don't now. Everyone knows, so you don't have to keep the secret anymore. Isn't that good?"

Ginny sighed and looked around the room. "I started to worry when I didn't receive an owl, but I just thought... Maybe you were having a good time at Hogwarts. I didn't say anything and I should have."

"Do you honestly blame yourself for what happened?" Hermione asked in shock. "Ginny, none of this is your fault. Severus and I knew that the aurors were gone because they had a lead in London. We knew it wasn't safe, but we went anyway. This is all on us."

"Hermione you could have died!"

"I know that. But honestly," Hermione paused for a minute. She took a deep breath and made direct eye contact. "Though it would have been an awful way to die, I didn't care because I was with the man that I love."

Ginny was trying to take this all in. She didn't know what shocked her more, that Hermione was so calm about death, or that she actually loved the repulsive Severus snape. "You... Love him?"

A wide smile went across Hermione's face. "Yes Ginny, I do. He makes me feel special. You obviously don't know it, but his smile is so warm, and the way that he talks to me with such emotion and love in his voice has me taken. He is so different around me." Hermione chuckled a little. "He's almost human!"

This made Ginny laugh a little more. She quickly leaned in a gave Hermione an unexpected hug. "I'm glad you're happy" she whispered.

Hermione smiled again and wrapped her arms around Ginny. "Thank you."

Sorry for such a short chapter but I really struggled with this one. I wanted Ginny to finally accept Hermione's decision but then there's so little to say. Hope you enjoy! As always, I love love LOVE comments!
