Hermione woke up early the next morning and got dressed quickly. She wanted to get breakfast before Harry and Ron arrived.
Harry apparently had official Auror business to discuss with McGonagall and he was letting Ron tag along.
She hurried down to the great hall and grabbed a piece of toast and some fruit and began to make her way to the Headmistresses office.
The halls were pretty much empty except for the few students who were scrambling to finish their assignments before their classes that day. She passed by several first years who were all hunched over a charms book asking if they were all done with the page.
She got to the door to the Headmistresses office and said the password. She made her way up the staircase and knocked on the door. It opened for her and she saw Harry first. She ran to him and jumped into his arms for a big hug.
"Oh Harry! It's so good to see you!"
Harry stumbled back a little and laughed and embraced her. "It's good to see you too 'Mione!"
She gave him a second hug and slowly pulled away smiling. She turned slightly and looked at Ron.
He gave her a small smile and looked down. She smiled and gave him a small hug. "Hi Ron! It's good to see you too!"
He returned it but was rather awkward about it. He hesitated to touch her and remained fairly silent. She pulled away and they looked at each other for a moment before Harry broke the silence.
"So 'Mione, how's school going?"
"It's going great Harry! I love it so much!" She smiled from ear to ear whenever she got to talk about school.
"Snape giving you any issues?" Ron laughed.
"Well I'm serving detentions, but they're..." She paused before continuing "good. He's having me help research different potions."
"You poor thing!" Harry laughed and patted her on the back.
They sat down to talk with McGonagall about the concern of the death eaters that will soon be released from azkaban.
"Why are they releasing them?! They helped Voldemort. That should get them life." Hermione said getting upset.
"We have no way to prove that they killed anyone or really did anything wrong." Harry paused "and we are concerned they might come after Snape."
Hermione tried to hide the panic in her face. She took a deep breath before inquiring more. "Why on earth would they do that?"
Ron jumped in, seeing a change in her behavior. "Well how would you feel if you were put in jail but one of your colleagues that was more involved with Voldemort got off scot free?"
"Headmistress," Harry said leaning in towards McGonagall. "Would it be alright if we just had some Aurors around the castle? Ron and I have already volunteered to do it."
"Don't you think that would worry the students?" McGonagall asked "I mean it is common knowledge that you two are Aurors. Everyone knows who you are. It might scare them."
"Not if we tell everyone they are visiting me." Hermione said looking at everyone. "I think everyone assumes you'd visit from time to time so it wouldn't be that strange."
"Alright. Well I'm sorry to make this short." McGonagall stood and walked around her desk. She shook Ron and Harry's hands and went to open the door for them. "But I have some other very pressing matters to attend to.
"Thank you for your time Headmistress." They all left together and McGonagall shut the door behind them.
