3 weeks later -
" College acceptances today ? " ; Johnny asked .
" Yes . Stop reminding me ! " ; I hit Johnny .
" Mom ! Johnny is stressing me out " ; I complained .
" Johnny " ; mom glared at him .
" I did nothing ! " ; he argued .
" Stacey , go help out dad in the lab " ; mom shooed me away .
Mom and dad were living together and had started dating again . Yes ! I nodded and ran to the lab .
I had finally upgraded the military tracking systems and everything and it looked real good on my resume ! I was proud .
" Can I tinker around ? ' ; I asked .
" Uh , sure ! Help me with this " ; dad gestured to a big plane like model .
" Wasn't the quinjet enough ? " ; I asked .
" This is much more faster and better " ; he said excitedly.
" Can you work on its gps system ? " ; he asked .
" Sure ! " ; I replied .
We worked on the new jet for 2 hours before my phone rang . Luke .
" Yes ? " ; I asked .
" I got into Georgetown Law ! " ; he cheered .
" Oh my God ! Congratulations! " ; I cheered .
" Did you check ? " ; he asked .
I totally forgot !
" Not yet , I will now " ; I said as I ran to my room to get my laptop .
" I am praying that you get accepted to John Jay " ; he said .
" Thanks baby " ; I said .

I ran back to the lab with my laptop and dragged mom , Johnny and Ben with me .
I logged into my laptop and opened mails. Now or Never .
The first I opened was Princeton . They rejected me . That was expected .
Next I opened FDU . That was a long mail .
' we regret to inform you that we will not be accepting you due to concern for the safety of our other students . Best of luck on the other colleges '
" That is wrong " ; Johnny protested .
Mom shushed him .
I took a deep breath and opened the mail from John Jay .
' Your resume was really promising and we would love to have you as a student but unfortunately we are going to reject your application '
The dam broke . I started crying .
" Oh Stace " ; dad said sympathetically .
" I got nowhere ! This is a disaster ! I knew this would happen " ; I sobbed .
" George Washington is still left " ; Ben reminded me .
" Yeah because they will take me when Princeton didn't! " ; I snapped .
" We do not know that " ; mom said calmly .
" What if I don't get accepted there as well ? " ; I asked .
" Then we apply again . Fall Semester or we apply for a military college . I am sure they will take you " ; mom said as she wiped my tears .
" Or you can become a member of our team and fight bad guys " ; Ben said .
" Or that " ; mom agreed .
I turned back to my laptop and opened the mail from George Washington University.
" Dear Stacey , we are please to inform you that you have been selected to attend our university. Classes start from 4th May , 2024 " ; I read out .
The whole family broke out in cheers !

" Did you get into John Jay ? " ; Luke asked over facetime as we both ate our ice-creams .
I shook my head .
" What ? Why not ? " ; he asked .
" Its fine , I got into an even better place and I will be closer to you " ; I said .
" Where ? "
" George Washington University . BA in psychology and a minors course in Criminology and criminal investigations "
" Oh my God ! That is great ! We could get an apartment together and everything ! "
" I know right ! When do your classes start ? "
" Next year . 1st May "
" Mine too but I start from 4th May "
We chatted a bit more before I said goodnight to him and just sat on my bed , re-reading the email . I guess Ben was right , whatever happens , happens for a reason .
