When love overcomes you
Love for another
One with a mind, a body, a soul
That resonates with yours
And yet on all the perfection you witness
They see something different
Ineptitude, inability, failure
Their opinions of themselves so wrong
Their view so tilted
Only disaster may follow
Their successes trivialized
Their failures inflated
And when you try to communicate
To inform them of their beauty,
Of their astounding capability
It is swallowed whole, rebuffed
By depression, anxiety, regret
And in your inability to aid
You feel inept, unable
You smell the stench of failure
They watch in horror as they return
Appreciation, kindness, love
But it too is swallowed
And the resonance
The grand orchestra that once was
The throng of angels singing in your heart
Fall from Grace
Their grand cathedral crumbling to ruin
An epoch ends as silence falls
Bruises are left, pain lashes anew
New scars scab over ancient red welts
As self-doubt wins again
