swept by the shore

i stare at the message i want to send.
truth is, i don’t know how to start.
maybe words will result in an end,
mind goes blank, heart breaks apart.

so scared to say sorry once more—
it dies, and it dies, and it dies many times.
meaning of words were swept by the shore;
going along with the currents is a crime.

i hold my phone, now i’m struggling,
trying to find the words that feel right.
you don’t understand where i’m coming
from, so lend a chance ‘til daylight.

i want to press send, i want to say i love you,
but i fear it’ll push you even farther.
you can’t find the strength to say i love you;
maybe it’s the resolution that we’re after.
