“I’ll just have a coke,” I said to the geeky waiter standing in front of my table.

“Same,” Nate requested and the waiter walked away without saying anything.  “Why did you want to come here?”

I shrugged. “It’s a nice little café.”

“Okay.” Nate looked at me oddly as our drinks arrived. I opened the straw and stuck it into my drink before taking a sip.

“What do you look for in a woman?” I asked pushing my glass away from me and leaning on the table.

“Oh, well um…you know? The basics?” Nate supplied lamely.

“What are the basics?”

“Things like a good personality, um…funny, and pretty?” He rubbed the back of his neck as a nervous habit.

“You don’t date much,” I guessed and he nodded in confirmation. The waiter came and took our orders then I returned my attention back to Nate.

He was taking a drink when I bluntly asked, “Have you had sex before?” He began choking on his drink and it took him a few minutes to calm down.

Nate gave me a hard glare. “Of course, I’m male and I have…urges.”

“Right,” I answered smiling at his discomfort.

“Actually that’s kind of what got me kicked out,” Nate confessed.

“Out of heaven?” I clarified and he nodded. “Sex isn’t a sin.”

“It is when you aren’t married,” Nate pointed out and I nodded in understanding.

“Did the girl get kicked out too?” I wondered.

Nate shrugged. “Not at the same time or in the same place.”

“What was her name?” I prompted.

“Ariel,” he whispered looking off in the distance. I smiled, maybe I was onto something.

“Was she pretty?” I asked.

“Oh beautiful, looked a lot like you.” I furrowed my eyebrows.

“How so?”

“Well she had red hair just like you and just like the Disney princess. I used to always make fun of her for that. She had more brown eyes unlike your hazel ones. You would have to see her to understand,” Nate mumbled before sighing.

I smiled. “How nice; what kind of angel was she?”

“Nature,” he answered quickly.

“Was sex with her worth getting kicked out?” I had to ask.

Nate seemed to think about his answer. “Well, it was pretty nice since it was first time and all, but I don’t know if eternity on Earth was worth never seeing her again.”

“What if you could?”

“I have no idea where she is,” Nate replied. I nodded unsure of how to discover this information either but it seemed like a good place to start.

Our waiter came over and set our food in front of us. We lapsed into silence as we ate.

“How does this work?” Nate asked after a while.

“What?” I questioned with my mouth full.

Nate smiled and I cleared my mouth before repeating what I had said.

“How do you know when a girl is the right one for me?” He rephrased.

“Oh.” I set down my fork and took a sip of my coke. “I just feel it.”
