I had gotten to Nate’s especially early. I really wanted the day to go by as fast as possible. I was actually excited for my date but before I could focus on Alex, I had to focus on Lily and Nate.
Nate opened the door and thankfully he wasn’t shirtless. He did, however, have a skin tight white shirt on which left nothing to my imagination and wet shaggy hair. A small smirk crossed my lips as Nate stepped aside and I walked into his house. We were friends so I was allowed to look, right?
“When’s your date?” I asked shrugging off my jacket and putting it around a chair.
“Noon-ish?” Nate guessed.
I looked down at my watch which showed 11:00 AM. “You mean soon-ish?”
He shrugged as he brushed passed me and went into his bathroom.
Pyro came out to greet me and I gave his head a pat before I followed Nate. He was staring at himself in the mirror trying to fix his black hair. I liked the shaggier look that he had at the moment but he seemed to disagree.
“What are you doing?” I asked after a minute of watching. It was pretty amusing watching a guy do his hair.
“I can’t seem to get this to look good,” Nate muttered without glancing at me.
I took a step into the bathroom. “Let me handle this.”
I gently pushed his hands away from his head then worked on undoing everything he had just done. When I was finished, I took a step back and nodded at my work. Nate looked at himself and immediately frowned.
“You didn’t do anything! I look just like I did before I started messing with my hair.”
I rolled my eyes. “I know. You look better that way.”
“Really?” Nate turned toward me.
I nodded. “Yes, is that what you’re wearing?”
Nate shook his head. “You picked out my outfit, remember?”
“Right,” I agreed then I excused myself so he could change.
After a few minutes of sitting in the living room having a staring contest with Pyro, Nate emerged from his room. He was wearing a dark pair of jeans, a different white shirt from before (this one wasn’t so tight), and had a navy blue jacket.
“Very nice,” I commented.
Nate was looking around for the things he would need while he was gone. “What do you plan to do while I’m out?”
“I will be here to continue my staring contests with your bear,” I stated. Nate looked at me like I was insane.
“Are you going to be here once I come back?” He checked the money in his wallet.
“Yeah and I expect a full report before I have to get back for my date.”
Nate was almost to the door when he turned his attention to me suddenly interested. “Another one? With that Eurus guy again?”
“No,” I replied with a frown but then it turned to a smile. “It’s with Alexiares.”
Nate walked over to the living room and glanced at me with concern. I knew he was going to ask who that was but I glanced over at the clock in the kitchen.
“You’re going to be late!”
I stood up quickly and started pushing him toward the door. “You still have to get there. Have fun! Use your manners, no elbows on the table, don’t talk with your mouth full, and all that stuff.”
