Haircut

I gather my frizzy long heavy blonde hair in my hands. Its damp and gross and I need to put it up for training. But it somehow got so matted overnight and the humidity did not help. It seemed as if I had an ever growing weight attached to my head. I hated it.

I couldn't brush my hair. I couldn't control my hair. It took too much of my time. 

Tartarus dried my hair out so my ends are practically fried and my hair has gotten so much frizzier. 

I finally throw an old hat on and walk down to the lake to meet Percy. 

"Hey Perce," I say, still frustrated.

"Hey. What happened?" he asked. He definitely noticed my terrible attitude.

"I hate my hair. Sometimes I just want to chop it all of." I grumble.

"I can't relate but I also have shorter hair." he says with a slight smirk.

"Oh shush. I'm just afraid of how I'd look with short hair." 

"You would look beautiful. I have always loved your long hair but I'm sure I can love it short as well." he says sweetly.

"Aw. You really just made my day. This bush on my head needs to go." I say as I get up to walk to my cabin. 

"You're cutting it now? Wait up!" he shouts after me.

We stroll back to Percy's cabin where theres no people and plan out the epic chop.

"Can I give you bangs?" Percy asks.

" I don't care. Honestly you could do the whole cut.

Finally we reach Percy's cabin and I stroll over to his dresser and pull out a pair of big blue scissors. 

"Sit and let me work my magic." Percy commands me as he grabs the scissors.

"Fine." I say. I'm scared.

Percy starts to braid my matted hair all the way down. 

"How short," he asks. I think he really wants it to look good.

"Your choice." I say. "I just want a lot of it gone."

"So at least shoulder length?"

"Definitely" I say. My heart bounds as he pulls out riptide and slashed my hair at my shoulders. 

He holds up my long braid which is at least 10 inches long and waves it around. Then he calms down and brushes through my remaining hair. It already feels so much lighter. 

"Do you want me to cut any shorter or just even the ends out?" he asks. 

"How does it look so far?" I ask.

"Pretty good. You look so pretty." I blush and tell him he can cut off as much as he would like. 

"Ooo! I know! Lets play a game! You shut your eyes and I have your hair in between the scissor blades! I'll drag it along your hair until you say stop! Then snip snip!" Percy suggests.

"You're having too much fun aren't you?" I say with a smile.

"Yep! Now shut your eyes." I shut my eyes and he starts gliding the scissors along my hair.

I decide to count to 100 and tell him to stop no matter where the scissors were. I was feeling spontaneous. 1, 2, 3, 4, ...

99, 100. "STOP!" I shout. I hear a loud snip and a huge chunk of hair falls into my lap. 

"Ok now even it out." I tell Percy. He snips away at the rest of my hair and then finally finishes.

"All done! Go see! I personally did amazing."

"I'm sure you did" I say as I kiss him on the cheek.

When I head into the bathroom, I yelp. I don't look like me. My hair is chin length and is surprisingly pretty straight. The ends flip up a little. Percy also gave me bangs but they were cute and weren't terrible. My hair had volume and was healthy. I loved it! It was also short enough for me to not have to put it up ever! All I had to do was pin back the bangs with a couple bobby pins and I was good.

"Percy Jackson!" I yell.

He comes rushing in. "what?" he asks, scared.

"I don't know what you did to my hair... but I love it!" I shout as I give him a huge hug and kiss him.

"I like your hair too. My hands don't get all tangled up when I kiss you" He smirks.

"Ha ha. Another perk I guess! My hair feels so much lighter! I feel so free!" I say as I swish my short hair against my ears. "Lets go and show people!" I say. I actually do like my hair.

We go around and I feel so confident. I feel powerful. 

What I really loved was that Percy didn't jusge my decision and tried really hard on my hair. I'm so happy. I love him so much.
