His breath escaped is lips in a visible cloud, as a result from the cold nights air. The great Percy Jackson shut his eyes for the final time and gave one last exhale. The night was silent except for a muffled sob coming from the heap on the ground beside him. The heap would turn out to be his lover, his reason for living, Annabeth Chase. Annabeth was not one to cry but with Percy's death, her eyes flooded with the unknown feeling of tears. From her eyes sprung small drops of water, and from her mouth came soft sobs. Nothing was unbreakable, even Annabeth. She didn't need a guy to be happy, but Percy was more than a guy. He was her life.

From the east came a soft shuffling sound, the sound of shoes on dead leaves. A chill went through Annabeth's body as she sat up and stared off into the woods where the sound came from. The air became cold and she felt the little life in her drain away like Percy's blood drained away from his body. All it took was a hoard of monsters, the arai, to kill him. There was no Bob to save them, only the open arms of death. It took all of Percy's strength to fight them and when the final curse came upon him, he collapsed, bleeding out.

Again, the sound came. Annabeth was frightened and exposed, her rock had died. A small figure ran into the clearing and set his pale hand on Percy's chest.

"Nico," Annabeth choked out. "He... he died!" She broke down and sobbed into Percy's bloodied chest. She did not care she was covered in blood. She did not care it was drying all over her and crusting in her hair. All she cared about was that Percy died. Two thin arms wrapped around her and pulled her away.

"Annabeth," whispered Nico. "There is nothing you can do." Annabeth knew this but she refused to believe it. He couldn't be dead. After all he had done, some pesky monsters could not be the cause of his death.

Nico shadow traveled Annabeth and Percy's body back to camp, where he set it down by the campfire. Annabeth sat beside it and cried into his chest, which was covered in now dry blood. Everyone began to swarm around her and she couldn't breathe. She screamed and stood up and pulled out her knife. "Get away! He is not a movie so there is no need to stare!" She collapsed and pulled her knees to her chest. Two strong arms lifted her up and carried her to the Athena cabin, laying her down on her bed to sleep. Annabeth cried all her tears and fell asleep dry sobbing. But this peaceful slumber only lasted so long.  She began to call out to Percy and started grabbing the air as if to summon Percy to her. But he was not there. His body was being prepared to be burned at the campfire that night. Annabeth couldn't fall asleep again as every time she shut her eyes, she saw him dying again. She laid down on her side, facing the wall and started to shake. The reality had sunk in. He was gone.

A few hours later she felt two firm hands shaking her awake. She turned over to see Piper, Jason, Hazel, Frank, and Leo staring at her. "He's gone," Annabeth whispered. The rest of the seven glanced at each other and looked back at her.

"We know. We understand how you feel." Jason whispered. "He mattered a lot to us too. We couldn't have survived with out him."

"But- but I loved him!" she couldn't bring herself to say it.

"We loved him too. I know we truly don't know what you are going through. You saw him die. Seeing that would affect anyone."

"But I need him. He- he..." Annabeth broke down and sobbed.

"What is it?" Piper asks.

"I can't say." Annabeth whispers between her sobs.

"Then show us." Annabeth pulls something out from under her pillow and throws it at Piper, who looks at it.

"He- he was going to be a father." Piper whispers. Tears spring up in her eyes and she sits down crying. "He was going to be a FATHER!" she screams. Jason heads over to her and she sobs into his chest. Hazel hugs Annabeth as tears run down her face. She notices something on a chain around her neck.

"A ring?" Hazel whispers. Annabeth nods and hands her a piece of paper that was under her pillow. It was an invite to their wedding, set for the next week.

"We were finally going to have our happily ever after. And then he goes and dies." she says.

"What happened?" Frank asks.

"Obviously, he died Frank. Use that brain of yours." Leo mutters.

"He led me to a clearing  because I told him I had some news. I was going to tell him about the baby. And this swarm of arai came and killed him. He never knew what I had to tell him."

Everyone, even the guys, broke down and cried. Jason leaned again a wall and tilted his head back. Frank sat down and sobbed. Leo sat down with his head between his knees, tears dropping from his eyes to the floor. Piper and Hazel clung to Annabeth as they all cried.

"He was our backbone. Our leader." whispers Jason.

They all sat there, not making a sound except for muffled sobs. When it was finally dinner, they walked to the pavilion, leaning on each other for support. When they received their food, they all asked for blue cherry coke, which they poured in the fire and offered to Percy. They then threw in the meat for the gods, and walked back to the table and ate in silence. After dinner they headed down to the campfire where they saw a blue and green shroud that was woven for Percy. Annabeth opened up the shroud to see his face, freshly cleaned, and lightly kissed him on the lips. Then she set the pregnancy test in his hands and untied his camp necklace from his neck. The necklace would be given to the child, his child, and so would his sword. She stepped away from his body and gazed at the huge fire. The seven, now the six, picked up his body and set him in the roaring flames. As the flames grew, the scent of seawater filled the air and the clouds opened up and released its tears as well. The gods were crying as well. Their hero had died.

Later that night, Nico snuck into the Athena cabin and woke Annabeth. "It is time to talk to him."

Annabeth soon is met with the face of her passed lover. "Hey Annabeth. So what was it you wanted to tell me?" Annabeth cries and instinctively puts her hands on her stomach. Percy's face pales and whispers "really?" Annabeth nods.

"My child... our child... won't have his father?" Percy asks.

Annabeth starts to cry and Percy wraps his translucent arms around her.

But it wasn't the same.

It never will be the same again.

Because he is dead.

The great Percy Jackson is dead.
