I wake up to the bright light of the morning sun streaming through my window.

"Good morning, your highness" says a girl in a sarcastic tone.

"Thalia! what time is it" I grumble, putting my face into my soft silk pillows.

"Time for you to get your but out of bed, We have a busy day today!" Says Thalia, my maid.

"Why?" I ask as I slip out of bed and stand there ready for her to dress me.

"Well it's your birthday ball! Oh happy birthday, by the way! It's not everyday you turn 18." She says as she pulls a casual pink a-line dress on me. Woah it's my birthday! Oh great. That also means I need to find a suitor tonight.

Thalia continues to loosely lace up the back of my dress since she knows I hate tight dresses and especially corsets. She sets a pair flats with a small heel on the floor and pulls my over to my vanity, where she braids my hair back into a low ponytail. You may be thinking "why does a princess hate all the delicacies that the palace provides?" The truth is I am very independent and all the finery I am offered holds me back. I only wear a corset when necessary because I cannot breathe, which is very unpopular with all the noble women.

Thalia then hands me a dagger, which is for protection, that I strap to my thigh. Yes it is in a hard to reach spot but I don't feel comfortable going anywhere with out it. When I am fully ready, I hug Thalia, who then turns to my bed to make it up.

I exit my suite and head down the long hallway to the exclusively royal staircase, which leads to our living areas. Once I reach the bottom of the stairs, I stroll through the many rooms and finally reach the dining room, fit to seat over 100 people, but only currently two people sit at the table.

"Good morning father." I say as I turn to the man, King Frederick and also my father, sitting at the head on the table. He looks up briefly from his documents and mutters a quick "hello Annabeth" before turning back to the papers. I face the woman, Queen Athen, my mother, sitting next to the man and grumble a quick good morning to her and the two little boys sitting across from her. I grab a piece of toast, an apple, and some bacon from the table before heading outside to dine on my meal. See, I have done this so much that my family doesn't question me.

Once I am done dining I head up to my suite to get ready for the ball.

Time skip

I gaze into the mirror as Thalia tightens my corset. I groan about how I can't breath but she continues to tighten that dreaded contraption. Once the torture is over, i step over the the raised pedestal by the window so she can alter the ball gown, if necessary. Thalia steps over to the wardrobe and pulls out a gorgeous silver dress, which she sets down on a bench next to me.

"This dress requires a hoop skirt, so stand still as I put in on you." She walks over to a side room in my suite, which has all necessary ball needs.

"A hoop skirt?" I ask, worried. I hate those things. Thalia comes out holding a hoop skirt.
