"Where are you going?" My mother's voice asks as I stand in the hallway, putting my shoes on. It's almost ten pm, and I dont feel like being in this house right now. It's been five days since Christmas, and I learned about my father having contact with the mafia. Since then, it's been a hell house.
"Im going out. Any problem?" My mother and Cissy give me a sad look.
"Honey, we understand your feelings, but you can't go out there alone." I roll my eyes, fucking bullshit. First, they bring danger back into our lives, and now I can't even go out.
"Well, you should have thought about that before we went here. I could have been home with Mary and Alec. I'm done," I open the door, but my mother locks it with magic. That's all I feel right now; she can not force me to stay in this hell house.
"You are not going out alone," alone? I was alone in my room for the whole day; they never checked if I was alive.
"Mom, stop-"
"Draco, come down here." Narcissa shouts for his son, and my heart beats faster; no way they are doing this to me right now.
"No- Im staying," they both shake their heads.
"No, you're leaving with Draco." Draco walks down the stairs, staring in shock between me and our moms. He looks chill in grey sweatpants and a black loose shimmy.
"What's going on?"
"Can you follow Bella out? She wants to take a walk." My mom smiles at Draco, and I can't help but want to throw up.
"What? Is she a dog or something?" He glares at me, not looking pleased with the proposal.
"Draco!" His mother's tone changes, and even if I love it when she's mad at him, I want him to win this. I will not take a walk with him.
"Fine, I'm doing it." I look shocked. Did he just agree? Our mom looks pleased, smiling at us as he puts his shoes on.
"Are you sure? I'm sure you would rather want to stay inside; I mean-" He glared at me.
"Will you shut up and open the door?" I look at him in shock before shaking my head and opening the door outside.
"Stay safe, call me if-" I slam the door in my mom's face, tired of her trying to make up for what they did to me.
"Why did you want to go outside?" Draco asks; we pass the garden, the trees, and I grab the thing I left there last night. The vodka bottle, Draco shakes his head.
"You have to be kidding me. That's mine." I smirk, showing him the bottle.
"It has my name on it." I take a sip, then another one.
"We are sharing," he grabs it; somehow, I dont disagree and just let him have it.
"Sharing is caring."
"Are you depressed or something?" He stares at me, walking out on the driveway, us walking, knowing a car can show up any second. Somehow none of us seems to care.
"Im not," he doesn't believe me.
"Why lock yourself in your room? Why taking a walk in the middle of the night-"
"It's ten o'clock Draco, it's not the middle of the night." He sighs.
"Can't you just call Alec? I mean, having a breakdown like this and risking your life-"
"What would Alec do?" he looks surprised at my words, and then he looks down.
"I thought you guys were close. Talked about everything." I nod,
"we do. But just because I love him as a friend doesn't mean I will call him to have a mental breakdown every time something in my life goes wrong." He shrugs, retaking a sip of the drink.
"Why did you agree to follow me? Is it the trust funds again?" He only chuckles a little, then shakes his head.
"I needed a walk myself." Yeah, that's definitely not the reason.
"You know our friends fucked, right?" He picks up a cigarette; ugh, disgusting.
"I know, and now our best friends live together. Hilarious."
"You think they will... grow back again?" Draco shrugs, smoke leaving his mouth.
"Maybe, Mattheo wants his family. Im not so sure Mary and Theo will talk, though." I shrug; I dont think that is impossible. They are both nice and would fit together more than I want to confess.
"Dont think we are friends again because our friends talk." I roll my eyes at his words.
"Malfoy, being your friend is the last thing I want." He nods slowly, continuing to smoke.
"What is your average grade right now?" I ask, trying to stop the almost friendly talk and returning to our rival selves.
"Outstanding, have it in every class besides one. You?" I suck in a breath; I have the exact same.
"Same... what class?" He rolls his eyes, looking annoyed.
"Herbology, but it wasn't my fault." I try frowning. I know why. I am why, which I'm so happy with right now because, without me, he would have better grades than I do.
"Why then?"
"A...Friend to me, I asked for help, and she set me up. Or she is just foolish, something in between, I think." A friend? Sorry to tell you, Malfoy, but it's one-sided.
"Oh, but you wouldn't have gotten it right since you had to ask, right?" He shrugs.
"You're not going to ask about the friend?" I shrug; I wouldn't normally care about his friends. Why would I know?
"Nah, it's probably Pansy or someone." He nods slowly, looking down.
"You know I'm going to graduate with better grades, right?"
"Sure, male, whatever makes you sleep at night." He rolls his eyes, and I drink the last of the vodka.
"Let the rivalry continue with the smartest man win." I throw the bottle in the trash, smirking.
"Let the best woman win." I reach out my hand, and he looks down, then up at me. He stares at me for a second, almost observing me, and then he grabs it and shakes it.
