At 16:39, Tuesday, August 1st 2023, my mother sets the GPS for our location
The GPS system reads aloud, all set, let's go, and she pulls out of the garage
101 miles to go, and the journey has only just begun
Just over the state border, we stop at a Wendy's, where I get my usual chicken sandwich
They forgot my pickles, which is unfortunate but not turn around and complain unfortunate
It was the best Wendy's I've ever had, which is nice
The voice of the artist we're going to see is playing over the radio, and I'm singing along, to him and to my mother
We're driving, and there's 22 miles remaining
22 miles farther from home, and we arrive at the parking garage
We park our car, setting off towards the venue
There's already a bustling crowd of fans lining up at the bar and merch stand
We line up in the merch line, buying a poster, 3 shirts, and a bag to hold it all
The opening act of the band of 3 has begun, so we move to the real venue spot to take our seats
Someone tall is seated in front of me, and two very loud girls to my left
After a few songs, and a lot of waiting, a cheer arises from the crowd as the singer walk out onto stage
I have earplugs in, because people overestimate the strength of the human ears
The songs roll by, and I'm singing along, cheering along, with an energy I didn't know I had
I'm 101 miles away from home, and I'm having the best time I've had since June 25th
It may not seem like it to some, those who dislike me in particular, but I quite like school
I see everyone I need to, making it quite easy to track movements
The singer is talking, and I'm laughing, that real laugh that's only exposed when I'm truly happy
The ones to draw it out, my favorite Nintendo character, my close chosen family, and my backstage love
"93 million miles from the sun, and people get ready, get ready."
"240 thousand miles from the moon, and people get ready, get ready."
I quite like that song
The concert finally ends, it is 22:48, and I'm headed home
101 miles to go, and our journey has only just begun
