People ask why I keep proper grammar as best I can
They say they're tired, hungry, it's summer, why care
They were never crying at the table I was made to cry over
They were never doing 8th grade math homework in the 3rd grade
They were never given books at the age of 6 with nothing else to do
They never had the pressure of an abusive father and prodigy siblings crushing them
They were never expected to be years ahead just because their family was
They had a childhood
They never had learning summers
They had vacations
They like the book series I do, but not like I do
Because when I read that series
They were my only friends
In my world, in my real life, I grew up too fast
I was supposed to mature and behave
But in this fantasy world
I can break the rules
I can travel the world
I can follow the witty characters on their journey
I can be a child of the gods
I can be whoever I want
Whenever I want
Wherever I want
I'm free from the expectations, the fighting
They have other things to do
They were never running for the next book
They were never locked in rooms where this world was the best option
They didn't grow up too fast
And it shows, by their lack of caring for grammar
I mean, who wasn't told you need good grammar to get hired
And accepted
Who wasn't planning their life at 8 years old
Most people apparently
In the real world, it's brutal, it's cold, and fast
There's no summer off, everyone wants from you
So why start at 18 to learn the real world
Why not 5
Why is it called growing up too fast
If I went at a steady pace, just too early
How dare they not understand
How dare they dismiss half of what I'm told
With simplistic, juvenile thinking
That you get time off
It's annoying to anyone and all who grew up too fast
