AUGUST

Salt air, summer love
The sunny breeze, the pretty dove

Just the beach, in the summer where you made me feel pretty
The seasonal "hang-out", keeping it "lowkey"

The whole year of us playing cat and mouse
Ends when August hits, for love now surrounds the summer house

September to July, bestfriends is all we are
But I knew bestfriends became something more, when you drove me around the getaway car

Do you still remember? The tree beside our summer home
Only had "Augustine" engraved in the blank space, but now it wasn't alone

'Cuz it turns out, there was another girl that you brought to our place
There was a new cardigan, a new lover... whilst my tears ricochet

Now August doesn't seem fun, it doesn't seem better
'Cuz why would it be? If what we have is now a cruel summer

A summer once all about James and Augustine's love story
But now, in these summer walls, all I can hear are your echoes of "hey, betty!"

Before her, it was our unexpected, yet expected story of friends to lovers, typical in every fairytale
Yet even if romeo got enchanted, Juliet still nanaged to fail

Thirty-one days later, August sipped away like a bottle of wine
Accepting the fact, that last August was the last time you became mine

(Inspiration came from the song "August" by Taylor Swift with hints of her other hit songs.)
