Secret Garden

Shadow lets out a small yawn showing off his large fangs, his ear twitches at the sound of someone beating heart, he felt something soft underneath him...confused he quickly pulled away to see that he was cuddling with Sonic.

He hadn't really left the garden that night, but he remembered what happened that night after he gave the demon his name.

They were star gazing, something that him and Maria did when they couldn't go to sleep, they were just spend the night in the hallway next to the window looking out at Mobius and space, with the beauty of the garden, and it's open fields of flowers and the sounds of natural running water from the small waterfall that lead to the lake, it was nothing but relaxing.

It was the best sleep he had ever had in his life, he didn't have a single nightmare, instead it was just of him and Sonic looking at the stars, and sharing stories about the different constellations.

"Maybe this is what I've been missing..." Shadow whispered, as he just wrapped his arms around Sonic's waist, pulling him closer to his body, the soft bed that made out of leaves, and vines, that was surrounded by roses, colors of blue, red, and white, the thick leaves of the oak tree acted as shade from the bright moonlight, the stone bench acting as the frame for this bed.

Shadow kind of felt bad that the demon was living in suck of condition...then again he hadn't really asked the demon if he could actually leave this place, he kind of understood why Sonic didn't leave, it was beautiful and relaxing.

Sonic shifted a little before he lets out a small whimper, in his sleep.

Shadow took notice of the small bit of black tears started to form in the corner of Sonic's eyes.

"I'm not a disgrace...I...I can prove it...please..."

"Sonic..."

Sonic jolted awake when heard his name being called, he felt someone holding him by his waist, when he saw the golden inhibitor rings...he felt like he was dreaming.

"S-Shadow?"

Shadow looked into Sonic's eyes, it was the same feeling that he got when he was with Maria, before that traumatic event...he felt for the first time something that he had been missing his who fifty-six years of his life. He only nuzzles into Sonic's cheek, "I'm here..."

Sonic felt his heart flutter, he never felt this feeling before...he knew mortals can feel this emotions, he seen it whenever they would confess underneath his Sakura Trees, since Shadow had been visiting him...he just started to get that feeling even more, he just felt happier, and less alone, he felt needed, and comfort.

Something that he never got since he's been cursed, it was always pain, and suffering, having to watch those come and go from his garden, leaving him alone with nature.

Without realizing he had started sobbing, genuinely tears. He just turns to face to Shadow wrapping his arms around the hedgehog and just sobbing into him.

Shadow was first to fully wake up, his ears were perked up at listening to the sound of flickies chirping in the distance, he quickly let go of Sonic, to check his phone, for the time and messages, besides the miss calls from Rouge and messages, it was only eight in morning. He glanced over at Sonic who was waking up.

"I need to call her back..."

Sonic was a little confused, by what he meant by call...but he understood that Shadow needed space so he gladly gave it to him...if anything he was gonna get something eat anyways. He is a demon...but like a mortal he needed food, water, and rest to actually survive, he couldn't die of starvation or dehydration it can put him into a coma, nor any illnesses and poisoning, hints why he's alive for thousand of years in this place.

"SHADOW!?! Thank Chaos your fucking alive!?"

Shadow only tilted his ears back, since he's been with Sonic, he hadn't really been getting those thoughts...nor those nightmares. "Sorry Rouge...I just lost track of time"

"That's beside the point, G.U.N has been looking for you, for reasons I'm not sure"

Shadow only growls under his breath, G.U.N was the last people that he wanted to see...though it probably had something to do when his not coming to work, to train. "Alright...I'm coming" he hung up the phone, he looked around for Sonic, only to find him by the fruit trees that the garden has, he started to make his way over to Sonic.

"Hey..."

Sonic shifted his gaze to Shadow, and gave him a warm smile "Hey"

"I'm gonna have to go"

Sonic's smile faded when heard that, he only tilted his ears back. "Oh...I understand..."

Shadow was kind of confused by that sudden change in emotion, but he didn't think anything of it. "I guess this is goodbye for now"

Sonic only nodded. Shadow turned on his heels, he only used his air shoes to boost off. The demon only looked away as he was back to being alone.

"Your always welcomed back...Shadow" he thought as he looked on the bright side of this situation.
