Sonic was watching the leaves fall off of the the trees covering the ground with beautiful colors of yellow, orange, and browns. He'd always enjoyed the changing of the seasons, he always got to experience all the holiday activities that all the mortals tend to share.
Shadow was sitting next Sonic, he really didn't plan on returning back to Empire City, mostly thanks to Rouge's help with getting Towe off of his back, he was rather free...well kind of, he was still on call for missions, but he didn't have do anything that would caused him to have another uncomfortable emotion break down. His only issue is that sure he immune to all of the elements, since he couldn't get sick, but he wasn't immune to wild animal attacks. Sure he trusted Sonic to protect him from the animals like that since the demon was rather one with nature.
He could just build a cabin in garden, the place was rather about a five acres large...but he didn't really know how Sonic would feel about a manmade object in his garden.

He did end up getting answer as to why was forever cursed to this garden.
Sonic explained what he knew, his parents broke the rules where a mortal and a demon couldn't fall in love...thus he was born...he was immediately abandoned at birth and force to defend himself, once he was old enough, the chained to wall of the garden, he was beaten with holy objects, and tortured, he felt everything...sure he was immortal, but he still felt pain, and can still bleed.
"Then one day...they never came back..."
He was left alone, he had tried many times to escape the garden, but like vampires in sunlight his skin just started to smoke and burn, to the point that it was just to unbearable.
"It was fun...getting use to my new powers"
Everything in the garden, he grew, with his new gift...he took a lot of inspiration from the people that visit his garden, and would talk about there places that they have been, he ended up turning this rundown dirty old place into something that can give joy.

Shadow reached his hand out to take a hold of Sonic's hand, getting the demon's attention.
"I'm sorry if it's quiet...Shadow, I j-"
"I don't mind it...after everything I've been through...I kind of prefer the sound of nature."
Sonic only tilted his ears back, "You know you don't have to stay...I don't want to keep you away from your friends, or your job"
"I...I actually started to think about that, but I'm not leaving...I just don't know how you feel about me building a cabin on the land"
Sonic only tilted his head in confusion, he never really seen a cabin before...the only manmade object he'd seen was a picnic basket.
Shadow couldn't help but to soften look, at the demon...he did find the demon's expressions and gestures cute, even if he was new to a lot of things.
"A place I ca-No we can live in to protect ourselves from the elements" Shadow explained, he knew Sonic wasn't really picking up on what he was saying, so he just pulled out phone and pulling up a picture of cabin.
"Oh those" Sonic admits, it did look better than sleeping on a stone bench, that was being held together by some vines. "But...I don't want the trees to be used to build it...let alone remove some places that the animals call home..."
"That's not gonna happen, I know a perfect I would want to put it" Shadow reassures Sonic.
The demon only perked his ears up, he trusted Shadow...if anything he just wanted the hedgehog to be happy, even if it meant that he was gonna have to be alone for most days just the feeling that the hedgehog would return to him, was good enough for him.
The demon started to chuckle when he was pulled onto Shadow's lap, he only nuzzles into Shadow lovingly with some soft purrs.
