"I don't like the code of Chivalry, the knights' code of honor. It's basically giving your enemy a free walk home and you have to treat women with all the respect in the world. A knight is only allowed to have one wife and the lord of the land can have as many women as they want."
- Loudmouth, know-it-all guy in my English class.

I don't get his perspective; I mean, first of all, the idea that killing, or vengeance is honorable seems to be a lie. Native American warriors, Japanese Samurai, European knights all had ways of defeating one another without vengeance, respect was earned, and the pecking order established without killing. A code of honor where one doesn't have to lower down to murder.

And the idea of respecting women isn't a bad idea. Maybe it could have saved the 16-year-old girl who was raped on her prom night. I just heard about it on the news the other day. The rape was disturbing, but the fact that there were witnesses who did nothing for almost two hours turns me misanthropic. I believe we could benefit from more chivalry at this time and in this culture.

For me, this type of boy intimidation seemed to start in junior high. Something changed when the girls started going through puberty and the boys seemed like they were getting smaller and we did pass them up size wise in jr. high. It's like this threatened them to the point where some of the boys had to try to intimidate us with a code of brutal vulgarity.

That kind of intimidation worked like a charm on all us girls who thought we should be treated like princesses.

Yeah, that first school dance, 9th grade, I was terrified, but I devised a plan. Loaded with turntables, speakers, extension cords, and a stack of vinyl, MC Quixote is called to duty and Chivalry is re-armed.

I've been thinking about how the boys get us girls to give up our power. But how could boys intimidate us? We're smarter, more mature, and more powerful on the inside. We've been built this way, it's biological. We can give birth and that is the most powerful thing a living organism can do.

There's some part of every female that knows this inside; and yet we sit on the sidelines while boys fight each other in front of us with what looks like the motive of winning over a female.

Maybe the real function of this type of male warrior behavior is to keep females in check. To constantly remind us that men have the physical ability to hurt women. That if we exercise too much of our power there will be a male out there to physically keep us in check, keep us down, keep the illusion that men are stronger and more important than women. I know that with cloning, males are eventually on their way out; they'll probably be phased out in the next 500 years.
