Don = "Leader of a mafia." or "Head of a family." The problem is that a Don is always a guy, so I can never really be one; but a DJ or an MC - I can be. I've been stuck on my stage name because I know how important the right name is.
Technically, it seems that DJ would be more appropriate than MC with DJing being more of a turntables and scratching records kind of title. MC seems like it's an abbreviation for microphone, like a freestyle rapper or hip-hop artist. I do both, I like the mic and I think the voice is the best instrument, but I also love working with turntables, records, headphones, and mixers.
Maybe I'm an MCDJ? That's too long. There's something else that's cool about MC, it's Cervantes' initials - Miguel Cervantes. I like it that there's something deeper to it, something just below the surfaced meaning, kind of like the sublime; it's right there, but too overwhelming to experience all the time. So we have to cover it up / distract ourselves from it / put on the blinders or be blinded by how overwhelmingly real the sublime is and how this blend of terror and beauty are fundamental to existence.
So MC Quixote will be my title, my stage name, my mask, my muse, my ruse.
