The Cervantino is one of the biggest fiestas in a country that embraces fiestas. It takes place in the colonial city of Guanajuato, Mexico about 300 miles north of DF; and for two weeks in October this pueblo fills up with thousands and thousands of people.
Artists come from all over the world to make the festival happen. There are musicians, dance troupes, theater groups, puppet societies, painters, sculptors, architects and designers, all working together to celebrate the arts. I can't think of a more fitting venue for MC Quixote and now this has become one of my goals, to perform at the Cervantino Festival; so I'll work harder to get there.
MC Quixote to the Cervantino
Making music que necesito
I brought my records and my tables
But I won't be promoting any labels
I'm an MC who knows Cervantes
I'm a DJ I got the mixed tapes
I'm writer trying to escape
The lines in the world
And the lines on this page
I've lived in Mexico
I've lived in Salt Lake
I claim the border
As my birth place
Between two cultures
They draw a line there
Over the wire
Birds cross and don't care
Don't got your papers
Now you have problems
Between both countries
I cannot solve em
I feel your pain there
Because you were born here
Not a millionaire, just a commoner
You can't get papers
You been waitin for years
You've worked in lawn care
You've been a nanny
You're cleaning toilets
And washing panties
You've cooked their meals
And did their dishes
They ate your food up
And killed your wishes
I'm MC Quixote and here to tell ya
The line, that lines been drawn out
They'll try to sell ya
Sell you a dream que no existe
Try to kill all, all your chiste
MC Quixote
A human being
I fight for justice
And keep on dreaming
I fight with words
I fight with sounds
You'll hear my music
All around
