Two weeks had passed since Beomgyu and Minji returned from their eventful honeymoon in Japan. As the days went by, they both made a conscious effort to move past the incident where Minji had nearly experienced a full-on breakdown. While they didn't explicitly discuss that moment, they silently agreed to focus on their bond and the friendship that had grown between them.
Minji, determined to keep her emotions in check, decided to bury whatever feelings she had for Beomgyu deep within her heart. She didn't want to complicate things further or risk damaging the strong connection they had developed. Instead, she chose to cherish their genuine friendship, a relationship that felt comfortable and effortless.
During one of her busy days at the company, Minji's phone chimed, indicating a new message from her mother. As she unlocked her phone and read the message, her eyebrows furrowed in surprise.
Mom: Minji-ah, today we will be having a dinner with the Choi Family.
Curiosity mingled with skepticism as Minji read her mother's text. She couldn't help but wonder what had prompted this sudden invitation. It had been a while since she and Beomgyu got married, and her parents' interest in meeting the Choi family now seemed rather unexpected.
As Minji pondered her mother's message, she couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to this dinner than her mom was letting on. Perhaps her parents had some specific intentions or concerns they wanted to address. Nevertheless, she decided not to dwell on it too much and shrugged it off as just a simple family gathering.
As the day went on, Minji's schedule became even busier, leaving her with little time to think about the upcoming dinner. She was focused on her rehearsals and meetings, determined to give her best to her work.
As the long working day finally came to an end, Minji returned home to find Beomgyu already waiting for her. His smile greeted her, and he couldn't help but comment, "I'm assuming you already know about the family gathering? Jeez, they always have something to do, don't they?"
With a nod and a small smile, Minji replied, "I just hope they aren't going to make us do another one of their errands."
Nodding, Beomgyu said, "Go get dressed up, we will leave in an hour."
Minji headed up the stairs to her room to get ready. As she looked at her reflection in the mirror, she decided on an elegant off-shoulder white dress that perfectly enhanced her grace. She put her hair up in a low ponytail, leaving a few strands to frame her face, adding a touch of softness and sophistication to her appearance.
When she descended the staircase, Beomgyu was taken aback by her beauty. His heart skipped a beat as he saw her in the elegant attire, looking radiant.
He couldn't help but approach her with a compliment, "Do you have any idea how beautiful you look right now?"
Minji chuckled, her cheeks turning slightly pink, and playfully slapped his arm. "Not the right time, Beomgyu. Let's go, we're late."
Upon arriving at the Choi family house, Beomgyu interlocked his hands with Minji's, a warm grin spreading across his face as he reassured her with a gentle squeeze. As they stepped into the house, Minji couldn't help but notice a very pretty lady running up towards them. The woman threw her arms around Beomgyu in a tight embrace.
Minji's heart sank, but she put on a brave smile as she greeted Beomgyu's childhood friend, Min Yoona. Even though Beomgyu appeared with a bored expression, Minji couldn't help but feel a pang of annoyance and maybe jealousy.
"Minji-ah, this is Min Yoona, my friend," Beomgyu introduced, "And Yoona, this is my wife, Minji."
Min Yoona's eyes widened in surprise as she looked at Minji. "Wife? You never mentioned that you got married!"
