<10 years ago. A café in a small town.>

Meghna is sitting on the chair in front of Amar. He had an exasperated look on his face, he could not believe what she was saying.

"Amar, you need to stop looking for me." She looks over her shoulder, anticipating someone to be watching them.

"But why Meghna? It’s taken me so long to track you down." Amar puts his hand over her's, over the table.

"You can't do this Amar. You just have to stop. I can’t tell you the details right now.” Meghna says as she pries her hands free from his grasp.

Meghna was looking anywhere but his eyes. She can't look into his pleading eyes right now. She might change her mind. She might stay. She can't.

"But-"

"No Amar. I can’t put you at risk. If you love me, then you will not follow me. You will get up and leave. You will not look back.” She’s on the verge of tears as she says this.

"No I can’t do that!" His voice rises an octave suddenly.

"Let me help Meghna, whatever it is, we’re in this together." Amar pleads, lowering his voice.

A few of the customers were looking at them now. Meghna finally gets up and starts walking out of the cafe. Amar follows and pulls her back holding her arm in a vice-like grip.

“Amar, let go of me.” She stares directly into his eyes.

He tries searching for any signs of recognition, love, but he finds none.

So Amar lets go of her hand, and watches her walk out of the café and into the crowd.

“... and that, was the first and last time Amar- I mean Pathaan saw Meghna after Phoenix.” Kabir is standing near the tall window next to Rubai in her cabin. A solemn look on both their faces.

"After that, Amar accepted the Afghanistan mission, and rest as we know is history." He continues.

"Am- Pathaan just gave up? He didn’t try to find Meghna again?"

Rubai corrects herself. Calling Pathaan, Amar felt strange. She doesn't know him, or that part of his life.

Kabir gives a sad smile.

"After that day, it was as if Meghna never existed in his world. But, I don’t think he has ever loved anyone as much as he has loved her. Enough, to let her go.” He turns to look at Rubai with a knowing look.

“But what does LUCIFER have to do with all of this.” Rubai asks, still confused.

“Pheonix. Her mission was to gather intel on LUCIFER.”

Oh. It made sense now.

In a dingy basement at an unknown location in the city, a man, in his late 60s, slams his fist on the desk. Anger evident on his face.

“HOW CAN YOU LET HER GET AWAY WITH THE DRIVE! WHAT THE HELL DO I PAY YOU FOR?” He barks at his lackies.

“Sorry Sirji, she must have had help at the museum. But we have laid a trap for her. She won’t escape out of it this time.”

“She better not! Letting her live back then was my mistake. It has to be corrected. Meghna needs to go.”
LUCIFER follows still seething with rage as he stares into the distance.
