Chapter 3

<next morning>

Sounds of punches thrown around could be heard from the JOCR training room. Pathaan was training with their latest recruit, special agent Rishi in the boxing ring.

Trainig in a general sense, his eyes kept fleeting to the clock on the wall. Pathaan was distracted for a second when Rishi landed a punch to his left cheek, that he barely misses. Pathaan immediately recovers and uses a uper hook and sweeps a foot under Rishi at the same time dropping him on the mat. Rishi accepts his defeat.

Pathaan hurries to get up and walks towards the changing room.

"That’s enough for today. We’ll start jujutsu tomorrow." Pathaan shouts back.

"You seem to be in a hurry today sir. Even during the training, your focus was on the time. Anything important?"
Rishi asks, jogging to catch up with Pathaan, as they both enter the changing room.

Pathaan internally debates before saying anything.

"Not sure yet. Had gotten an intel about a potential suspect. I just need to check that out." he lies.

"May I join you Sir? I’ll get to learn the ropes."

Rishi was like an eager puppy. Ready for anything you throw at him. He reminded Pathaan of his early days in the military.

"No, I have to take care of this one alone."

Saying so, Pathaan marches out of the changing room.

Later the same day, Rishi is going through some files on his monitor when his phone rings. Screen shows Rubai's name, he answers quickly.

"Yes ma'am."

"Is Pathaan at the HQ? I’ve been trying to reach him for a while."

"Ma'am he’s headed out to meet one of his informers regarding a target."

"What target?"

"No clue ma'am."

"Okay. Keep me posted if you learn anything." And the line cuts.

In a parallel location, a dingy motel room, a rough looking goon gets a call from “Sir Ji”.

“She’s in town. Take care of her.”

“What about him?”

“If he gets in the way, then get rid of him as well.” Call ends.
