It's almost noon the next day. Pathaan was sprawled on his couch in the living room, still deep in slumber. It's probably the longest he's slept in a while and it's unlike him. He stirs in his sleep, as he feels a slight weight on his chest.
Pathan opens his eyes, trying to focus ahead. He finds Meghna sitting on the other end of the couch with her feet propped on his chest. She's covered in one of his shirts, that's two sizes too big for her and a pair of joggers.
Meghna's face was set in concentration and she was chewing her lower lip as she was reading something on the laptop in her lap.
"Cute." His drowsy brain supplied.
Huh? Meghna in his house? Wearing his clothes? Using his laptop?
The wheels started turning as Pathaan's brain catches up with the events of the last night. He tries to slide out from underneath her feet without jostling her and sat upright, leaning against the armrest on the other side, waiting for her to notice.
"What are you doing outside? You should be resting." He finally spoke with concern.
"You need a new couch. This one is too small for two people."
Meghna said as she finally looked up at his face. Pathaan simply raised an eyebrow, he was still waiting for his answers.
"Your doctor had come earlier. He checked the wound, changed the dressing and gave me a clean chit. Then Rubai called, she's sent-"
she eyes the phone on the coffe table. Pathan grabs it to check the messages.
"-she's sent you the details she promised last night. I'm just checking those." She said matter of factly. Turning her attention back to the screen.
The first thing Pathaan registered was the latter part of Meghan's statement,
"How- how did you get my password?" That is all he could come up with.
"Oh c'mon. You know me."
She did not look up. She knew the flabbergasted look he'll be having. A smirk was playing on her face. There was a pause for a while as she continued reading and he continued to stare at her. It finally came to him that, Rubai and Meghna had actually spoken. He wasn't sure why that bothered him. Meghna was not a concern anymore, was she?
"Well events of last evening said otherwise." His brain queeped. Again."She seems nice." She broke the silence as if reading his mind.
"Hm?" Pathaan was still lost in thought.
"Rubai. She seems nice. You deserve nice." Meghna gave him a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
"Dont. You have no right to tell me what I deserve." Pathaan's demeanor had suddenly changed.
"All you left me with was a cheap one liner Meghna!"
'If you love me, let me go' - it still rang clear in his head.
"You did not deem it important to let me know what I had done, or could have done to keep you in my life. So don't. Don't tell me what to do with mine now."He pinches the brow of this nose before continuing,
"This is a one time deal. I will help you track and catch LUCIFER because it benefits me. But after that, we go our separate ways and you never come to me for anything." He looked her in the eye one last time and got up from the couch and left.
"Fair enough." Meghna spoke into the now empty room.
