GREAT, I HAVE TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL TODAY. Today is gonna be the worst day of my life. Not only do I have to see Alex, but he's in my friend group. And I don't want to be alone during lunch.

I walked through the school doors to see my friend group by the lockers. "Mia you're back!" "Come over here girl we missed you!" "How are you?"

All was blurred out when I saw that a few steps down the hall was my brother, Shuji, and Jenna. I'd choose them over Alex any day. I ignored the girls and the boys looks as I walked past them.

"Hey." I said walking up to the three. "Oh hey Mia!" Jenna smiled brightly. "Hey sis." Tyler said with his arm still around Jenna. "Hey.." Shuji mumbled.

I didn't wanna be rude so I stood next to Shuji so he wasn't alone on that side, and I felt like a third wheel next to these two. "Hey wanna sit next to us during lunch?" Shuji asked. "Usually they do weed, but today I got them to sit with me!" Jenna said. She seemed extremely happy today. "I'd love to." I said as I looked up to Shuji. He just smiled at me and put his arm around me like Tyler had his around Jenna.

"So I heard about the dance coming up." Tyler looked at me. "Not going." I said. "What! You have to!" Jenna whined. "That was one of my memorable moments in seventh grade. Come on." Jenna tried to cheer me up. "I don't have a date, and I'm not in the mood." I crossed my arms. "Screw that. I'm taking you." Shuji said.

"What why?" I asked. "Yeah why?" Tyler followed up. "Cause this is a big moment, I'm not letting you miss that." Shuji grinned at me. I didn't know what else to do but smile widely.

"Wanna walk to homeroom?" Connie asked walking up to me with the others. "Oh, yeah! Totally." I said. Shuji took his arm off of me and nudged me. "Cya punk." He chuckled. "Cya." I laughed.

"So you and that boy?" Becca cooed. "Nothing is happening." I said sternly. "Why? He's hot." Jess said. "He's not too bad." Dustin interrupted. "Yeah he's mid." Alex mumbled. "Who even is that?" Brandt asked.

"Mayas brother." I said. "Oh my god you and Ugis's brother" Heather laughed. "Good one!" She said. "Oh my god we are not dating. He's just my brothers best friend." I said as a few of us walked into homeroom. "Good." I heard Alex mumble.

AFTER FOURTH PERIOD CONNIE DRAGGED ME TO THE LUNCH TABLE. "So who are you guys planning to ask to the dance?" Jess asked the three boys. "This beautiful girl." Dustin said putting his arm around Connie and pulling her closer to him.

"Dustin's mom." Brandt joked. "Prob going solo" Brandt crossed his arms. "Dunno." Alex mumbled. "Who are you girls planning on going with?" Connie asked us. "Who knows." Heather said disappointed no one has asked her. "Maybe just with friends." Becca and Jess nodded in unison. "I got asked." I said.

I saw Alex's eyes widen and look up. "Oh my god who?" Connie begged. "Not saying." I mumbled. As everyone talked more about the dance I scanned the lunch court. There was no sign of my brother.

While looking around I happened to make eye contact with Alex. I quickly looked away, but I could tell he was still looking at me.

"What's up." Someone said from behind me. I could tell by the familiar voice that it was Shuji. "We've been looking for you." Shuji said as I turned around. "Okayy." I got up and we walked to my brother and Jenna.

FINALLY TOMORROW WAS THE DAY OF THE DANCE. We were gonna get ready at Heathers. I was getting ready for school and headed downstairs. Jenna and Tyler were eating at the table while my mom prepared more pancakes.

"Oh! Mija I need to tell you something." She said placing a plate of pancakes for me at the island. I took a seat and listened. "Heathers mom called and said that a girl from your class, Anna Kone, her parents recently divorced. Can you please be nice to her and be her friend." My mom said.

"Oh, I feel awful for her. Of course." I said smiling. My mom went to the table to eat while I stayed at the island. Although me and Anna have a bad history, I truly felt bad for her.
