Viv's pov

It all seemed to happen in slow motion. We all saw how Anouk's entire body just stopped working, her usually bright eyes turning dark and stormy, clouded by fear. Her entire body just stopped working. Daan tried to touch her, but nothing seemed to get through to her brain. That's when I followed her scared stare.

That's when I saw him. Right behind Leah's family. He was here. This is bad.

I looked back at Anouk and her body just quit. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head, her eyelids closing and then her body crumpled. She didn't even fall. She just crumpled. Due to everyone still being around her because of celebrating the goal, Leah, Katie and Daan caught her body, making sure that she wouldn't hit the floor hard. I had to do something.

My body suddenly remembered how to move. I ran over to the side of the field and spoke with security, making sure that they would drag him out. "But he hasn't done anything wrong." I narrowed my eyes. "He is not supposed to be here. Do you see that girl over there completely knocked out? That's because of trauma that he did to her. I'm also pretty sure that she has a restraining order against him, so legally he is not allowed to be here." He shook his head. "I need proof before I can do anything."

After making sure that the others had her, Daan and Kim came over to us. Daan was fierce. "Listen here you shitty ass of a security man. If she has a restraining order on him, he is not allowed to be here." Kim jumped in. "If a player of ours is so threatened by him that she literally fell unconscious in our arms, I would say that it's enough proof." Daan took over. "So get your little security buddie here with you and kick this abomination of a human out of the stadium!"

The security guard finally gave in and they dragged him away from the stands. He wasn't even protesting. He just had that same stupid smirk on his face. Oh my god. Poor Anouk...

An ambulance had come to get on the field to retrieve Anouk. Because it was such a severe trauma response, they wanted to keep her heart in check. I turned around to my friends and I saw Leah and Katie being in tears. I walked over to them and hugged them both. "She will be fine. She will need a lot of time, but she will be fine. She did this once. She can push through this again."

Anouk got loaded into the ambulance and then the ambulance drove off.

The referee came over to us. "Will you girls be alright to play further? Or should we postpone the match until another date?" Kim Little, our captain, stood up. "Anouk would want for us to keep playing. Leah, are you okay with that?" Leah looked up at her. "Yeah, but sub me out. I'm in no state to continue playing." Kim nodded her head and walked over to Jonas who had been watching anxiously. He nodded his head and Leah got subbed off, Lia coming in for her and Jill came in for Anouk.

We got a standing ovation from everyone in the stadium for continuing to play, but we couldn't really care. We all just wanted Anouk to be okay.

Leah's pov

I haven't slept in 2 days. She hasn't woken up in 2 days. All I've been doing is sit by her side in the hospital, my mom and some of our teammates coming in and forced me to take showers and go home to get some sleep.

In the moments after the game, everything happened so fast. The clip of Anouk passing out had gone viral immediately. Her story of domestic violence following. It was in all of the news channels all over the world. Getting a lot of reactions. Most were good, but there were some bad ones. Her socials absolutely blew up with everything.

The English police has had contact with the Dutch police on the matter and now there was an officer at the door at all times, checking everyone who came in. The whole FIFA had stepped up on this problem and Alex has gotten a new restraining order, active here in England and he has been banned from games where Anouk would be in. No matter the country, he will not be able to be there.

But the damage had already been done. Her heartbeat had been irregular the first day, sometimes almost stopping and then overworking, but after that first day, it had been stable again. I couldn't imagine how she would wake up from this.

And then to be surrounded by the media. There had been protests going around against domestic violence. My own socials had been blowing up too. Together with the other girls' but mine were blowing up the most. I guess that everyone had figured out that we were going out after being spotted holding hands at the Fiorentina match and my sudden extra emotional response after Anouk had been brought to the hospital and I too have received threats.

Social media can be such a great thing, but also so dark. This was the perfect example of it.

Her friends that had known her the longest haven't spoken to the media about the details of the domestic violence that had been going on and only showed their support for the girl, however, I will never understand how or why, but someone had gotten their hands on a hospital report, showing how she was applied to the hospital on the brink of death due to injuries in the last month that she was with him.

The only thing that people could find about it in the media at that time was that she would be gone from games and not show up and then suddenly be there again, all bubbly and prank pulling like she has built her reputation to be.

The hard fighting soccer player who has a dark past.

Anouk's pov

I woke up screaming, my body shooting upright. My eyes shot open and I breathed heavily until I started to look around. I heard beeping and saw a needle sticking in my hand, connecting me to an IV. The beeping came from the heart monitor besides me. I calmed my breathing down and looked at the door opening where a police officer was standing to see what the scream was about. I think.

I continued to look around the room and then I saw Leah sitting besides my bed, looking at me with red and bloodshot eyes. Katie was sitting besides her. I smiled weakly at them, clearing my throat.

"How did the game end? Did we win?"

Katie scoffed. "You scared the living shit out of us. But yes. We won. 4 to nil." I relaxed back into the bed.

"That's good. How long was I out for?"

Leah gently took my hand. My first reaction was to flinch, but I relaxed into her touch. "You were out for two days. And you might not want to hear this now, but you deserve to know. The second that you step out of this hospital, all eyes will be on you. Your story has been going viral. Everyone has been speculating. The restraining order that you had in the Netherlands will continue here in England. He has been banned from ever visiting a stadium you will be playing in. He's not allowed to be living within the same city as where you live, and lets see... uhm, the whole world knows about your story now. I'm sorry."

I gently rubbed my thumb over the back of her hand. "What are you sorry for?" She looked at me together with Katie. "That your privacy with this is gone." I smiled at her. "Nothing that the media could ever say could be possibly as bad as what I've gone through. Yes. It sucks, but maybe it is also time that things like this get openly discussed. And if that person has to be me, than it's me. I'm not ready, but I don't have much of a choice."

Leah and Latie smiled gently at me. I was about to send Leah home to get some sleep when the whole Arsenal squad and the Dutch national team came in. They tried to be quiet, but there were a lot of them and as soon as Jackie and I made eye contact, she burst out through everyone and gently hugged me. I hugged her back. "Ik ben bang Jackie." (I'm scared Jackie.) She rubbed my back. "Ik weet het, maar misschien is dit wel het einde van dit verhaal." (I know, but maybe this is the end of this story.)

Everyone was relieved that I was awake and a docter soon came to check up on me. The doc did a routine check up and everything seemed to be fine.

The doc left us all alone, accepting this many people in one room for only this one time. I looked around the room. "So, who is going to show me what the media has been saying about me?"
