Me and Ellie haven't had a proper conversation in ages

Me and Ellie haven't had a proper conversation in ages. Yeah, we go on patrol together but she still uses as few words as she possibly can. Only saying quick sentences like "go around." And "over there!" other than that we haven't really spoken.

It had been 3 weeks since what happened back on our first patrol and I think I'm slowly getting over it, I mean it's not like we were ever a real thing, we hooked up once and that's it. I need to get over her she's not worth my energy anymore, so I've decided to go out with Dina around the town today just to catch up. Maybe I'll even tell her what really happened between me and Ellie, she's not gonna be happy if I do but I haven't told anyone yet and it was my first proper kiss, wouldn't it be weird if I didn't tell my best friend?

I was walking into the town and saw Dina building snow men with some kids when she saw me she gave me a smile and waves me over to her.

As I'm walking I hear a bunch of kids yell my name as I start getting closer then some of them run in my direction then rapping their arms around me. Me and Dina used to help out with dinner for the kids for the mini school in Jackson but Dina stopped as soon as she started going on patrols and now I had to too, I miss it.

"Woah guys! Your gonna nock me over." I laugh and the three kids that were just clinging on to me let go to look up to my face.

"Where have you been, Izzy?" One speaks up at me.

"I've started going on patrols so I had to resign from my spot in the dinner hall for now." I say with a frown, causing the other kids to also pout.

"But I'm free now, I can play for a bit!" I look over at Dina and she shakes her head with a desperate look of  'save me' on her face.

"But it's starting to get cold now, you guys should make your way home before you get a cold." I tried making the best excuse I possibly could to help out Dina, she mouths a 'thank you' to me making sure the kids don't hear as they start walking off to their houses.

"Fuck me, thanks for that I had been building snow men for the past hour my fingers are about to fall off." She laughs.

"I guess you can call me your hero." I put my hand up to my heart and wink at her, then we both burst into laughter.

An hour had gone by and me and Dina had made our way on top of her roof sharing a bottle of beer we found in her kitchen, although I don't really drink so it was basically just Dina drinking the bottle herself. We were mostly talking about her love life, she could never stay with the same person because they'd never treat her right, girl or boy she couldn't find someone. I understand why she doesn't want to give my brother a chance but I know damn well he will treat her the way she is supposed to be treated, but anyways I'm surprised she hasn't found 'the one' yet, she's literally perfect and something in me can't keep back the jealousy I have for her she's so pretty and has such a kind heart she has everything one could need.
