Happiness doesn't last forever though. Nothing does.

It was 2 in the morning, Shinobu felt discomfort in her body as she held onto the sink in the bathroom. It was similar to menstrual cramps. She hadn't had her period for 3 months now.

Looking down at the floor, all she saw was a pile of blood. Fear struck into her eyes as she sat down on the ground, unsure what to do next. She tried not to cry, but that's all she could do. It was painful, physically and mentally.

After Giyuu realized Shinobu wasn't in bed, he went to the master bathroom. Noticing the pool of blood, "What happened?" He rushed to her side.

"I think...I lost the baby."

He wiped the tears off her cheeks, "We aren't sure of that yet. I'll take you to the hospital. Does it hurt?"

She nodded.

The doctor confirmed Shinobu had a miscarriage. Essentially it wasn't either of their faults for the miscarriage, they'd both been doing everything right. The baby was just not developing the way it was supposed to.

However, they both felt like it was their own faults.

'Maybe my cooking was a little too burnt? Or I didn't massage her back enough?' Giyuu contemplated.

"Giyuu."

His head jolted up from his thoughts.

"Go back to New York."

He stood up from the sofa he was sitting on and walked over to her hospital bed. "Why? I can't just leave you like this."

Shinobu looked down at her hands, with a stoic tone in her voice. "Go back to New York, please. I think it's best if we don't see each other for awhile."

He hugged her, "Okay, fine, if that's what you want. I'm always a call away if you change your mind." In actuality, he wanted to marry her. He wanted to try again for another child already, he was willing to let go of everything for her.

The following week Giyuu left to go back to New York. Shinobu practically fell into a depression, telling him to leave made it worse for her but all he was doing was respecting her wishes.

She felt like it was all her fault that they lost their child, even though the doctor said it wasn't.

Everyone around her noticed her change in behavior, she became more sarcastic and lighthearted. With an in-genuine look in her eyes, like she didn't take anything seriously.
