Kei cried and was whining, sitting on the ground. "WAAAH!"
Giyuu immediately ran over worried, "Hey- What happened?" They were at a cafe that had a play-center. He caressed his daughter's back.
Ichiro had watery eyes, "I'm sorry! We were playing tag...and...and...Kei tripped!" He cried feeling bad that Kei scratched her knee.
Giyuu picked up Kei, "It's okay, you didn't mean to, Ichiro." He walked out the play pit with the two children.
Giyuu bandaged Kei's scratch, and returned to the table where his wife was waiting alongside Mitsuri. "Kei scratched her knee while they were playing tag. Ichiro's okay, he just feels bad."
"Mommy!" The little boy sobbed. "I'm sorry Kei!"
Shinobu and Mitsuri couldn't help but laugh at the cuteness of the situation, "My,my, what a friendship has blossomed since the last time they had a play date." Shinobu ruffled through Kei's hair.
The kids calmed down after having some dessert, "Ah! Nee-san! You're finally here!" Shinobu waved, seeing her sister walk through the cafe doors.
"Sorry we're late!" Kanae, Sanemi, and her daughter Rei sat down. Although Kanae was older, she took her time with her marriage. Rei was younger than Kei by 2 years, and of course the girls had to have matching names.
"Rei!!!" Kei rushed over to her favorite cousin, pulling her in a hug. Ichiro and Sakura followed as they ran back into the play area.
The adults conversed, "By the way Mitsuri-chan, why isn't Iguro-san here today?" Kanae asked, taking a sip of her iced tea.
"Ah, he's planning to open another location for his noodle restaurant! We got a Michelin Star from a food reviewer recently! He's there at the new spot to make sure everything is going right."
"Thank god..." Giyuu thought. Obanai did not like him at all, he just tolerated Giyuu because their wives were best friends. Same story for Sanemi, except now they're brother in-laws. Sanemi tolerates him, but is always on the lookout for a moment to bash him.
"It feels so nice to all hangout again, it's impossible to find time because of all our schedules." Mitsuri exclaimed. "Should we go out for a drink tonight? I mean, our kids have grandparents for a reason." She slyly smirked.
"Drinks sound lovely, but I hate the thought of being hungover tomorrow." Kanae pouted.
"Yeah, I can't drink right now either." Shinobu tugged at her oversized purple sweater,
"Launching a new product, I have to attend a meeting.""Oh! What product?? I'll give it a good review on my channel!" Mitsuri jumped excitedly.
"A volcano face-mask for KochoxDew , it clears your pores!" Mitsuri always makes a product go viral after reviewing it, perks of being friends with an influencer.
The conversation ran on with the girls about work, and other 'interesting' stuff. Sanemi and Giyuu were left there staring out into space out of boredom. Sanemi was persuaded to come along, he can never say no to Kanae's angelic voice.
"Also, I have something to tell you guys." Giyuu jumped back into reality, that's what he came here for.
She rubbed her stomach, that was hidden by the oversized sweater. "I'm pregnant." Shinobu softly smiled. "Kei's getting a sibling."
"Shinobu!! I'm so happy for you two!!" Kanae was joyous.
Mitsuri jumped onto Shinobu to hug her, happy tears treaded down her face. "Kyaaahhh! Shinobu this amazing! You're family is gonna have another cute baby! Waaah!!"
Kanae realized, "No wonder why you said no to drinking! You never do! How far along are you?"
"3 weeks." Shinobu beamed warmly, Giyuu put his han on top of her hand.
The conversation went on happily, Giyuu felt a comforting feeling engulf him. They were settled down, everything they had wished for back when things first started. He was happy.
Leaving the cafe, he was the one behind the wheel and Shinobu his passenger princess. Kei sat in the back, sleeping in her car seat. Giyuu drove with his left hand, rubbing Shinobu's thigh with his right.
Even with all the stress of juggling parenting, work life, friends and family, these were the good days. Another addition to the family on the way, making memories was all there left to do.
Arriving to the cafe at 6, and leaving at 8pm. Giyuu noticed his wife was also slowly dozing off to the side, he smiled. He couldn't have asked for anything better than what he has right now.
Shinobu left an unforgettable mark on him. They had something that can't be removed or forgotten. Giyuu never planned on falling in love or getting married, until he ran into her again on that street that day. He didn't even plan on living until finding her.
He took a good look at his wife sleeping soundly in the car.
"You're something else, Shinobu." Giyuu caressed her thigh.
"You're indelible."
