hey guess what

SCREW EVERYTHING BECAUSE HERES TO SEASON TWO BABYYYYY

yes, yes, season two has in fact been out for months but hey, I'm about to go to college so I've been a little busy

no, part 2 of swan song (and midnight thoughts) are not complete, but I have more written on them (and maybe another *cough cough*) than I thought, so why not have at it?

so, you know... here's the prologue of part 2 :)

Alina stared around her as the dark fog set in. She wasn't unfamiliar with the sight, dreams of the inside of the Fold had plagued her ever since she had left it. What wasn't usual, however, was the dark tent she could see faintly in the distance. Furrowing her brows, she began to make her way over to it, and when she pulled open the front, her face fell. She stepped further inside with a clenched jaw.

"You," she spat. The man in the dark uniform turned slowly, watching her with the same smug smirk she had often seen on his face.

"Like calls to like, Miss Starkov," he said cryptically. She shook her head.

"That line doesn't work on me anymore," she said. She gestured around to the fancily decorated tent. "None of this does." He furrowed his brows.

"And what do you think this is?"

"More of the same. Veiled threats and empty promises." He sighed with a tight smile.

"My promises were real, I assure you." She scoffed.

"And which promises were those?" she asked. "The lie of the Fold, or every other lie you and Katya fabricated together?"

"You think you know who you are now because you've suffered for a moment," he told her. "You won't truly understand the depths of your soul until that suffering leads you to sacrifice." She rolled her eyes.

"And what have you sacrificed but the lives of innocent people?" She nodded and took a few steps towards him. "Ravkans will see the sky from here one day. By my power."

"A valiant goal." He took a slow step forward and shook his head. "But the question remains... Are you willing to sacrifice that which is most precious to you?" Before she could react, he had gripped her by the back of her neck, and she shot awake in a library in Novyi Zem.

On the other side of the map, the Darkling awoke in a small home outside of Adena. The brown-haired woman across from him lifted her head as he looked around. He winced before burying his head in his hands, and Katya stood slowly, making her way around him and rubbing his shoulders gently.

"You saw her," she said quietly, not needing to phrase it as a question. He nodded slowly, lifting one hand to rest on top of hers. "And? What did she say?" He sighed and raised his head, rubbing the back of her hand with his thumb.

"Only what was expected." She nodded, and he gripped her hand tighter, pulling her around to stand in front of him as he looked up at her.

"So what now?" He sighed and wrapped both of his hands around hers.

"Now... We keep with the plan. We'll deal with Alina later. But we have bigger issues to deal with right now."
