Fred's POV

I didn't get much sleep that night. All I could think about was the ways I could possibly get Mila to notice me. Besides, now that George had made a bet with an offer about it, I was even more determined to get her to notice me, and like me by the end of the school year.

"Morning," I said, jumping out of bed and starting to get ready. I made sure to make my hair look nice, especially since it was rather long. I wanted to look presentable in case I did see Mila again.

"Why are you awake so early..." George moaned, rolling over in his bed.

"I don't know, restless?" I answered.

"This better not be about Mila." He groaned. I just shrugged, even though he didn't see it since he was now facing the wall.

"Shut up!" Lee called from his bed, lifting his covers over his ear.

I finished getting ready, and left out the door to be one of the first to breakfast. I was up anyway.

Once I got to the great hall, I started filling my plate with food. There weren't many others there yet. There was one younger hufflepuff girl, Neville Longbottom, a group of Ravenclaws, and a Slytherin.

Hold on a second-

Mila Lockhart.

I had no clue she would be here this early, and I just about stopped breathing. I guess I stood there so long in shock that three other people made their way in at different times and had their plates full before I snapped back into reality. I started getting really nervous, as I set my plate down and walked up behind her.

"Hi there" I said, tapping her on the shoulder. She turned around rapidly, giving me a weird 'umm go away freak' look, and then turning back to her plate without saying a word. "I'm Fred." I said, trying to get her to say something. I was curious on how her voice sounded.

"Mhm." She mumbled, not bothering to look at me.

"I like your headband," I complimented, trying to start some small talk.

"I'd like if you left me alone to eat in peace." She said, still refusing to look at me.

Okay, maybe Lee was right. It was going to be hard to get to know her.

"I'll see you around then," I said, turning around and going back to my plate that I realized was lacking the bacon I put on it. George sat beside it with his mouth full like a chipmunk. "George, I was going to eat that!" I said, taking a hashbrown from his, as he swatted at my hand. He took a while to chew it all and swallow.

"You were talking to Mila," He said, sounding unimpressed. "Let me guess, it didn't work."

"Maybe not..." I confessed. "BUT, it was only our first conversation. She just has to warm up to me." I said. In reality, I wasn't convinced myself that that would even work.

"You know, Fred. I never thought you would fall for a Slytherin based off of how many pranks you've pulled on that house and how much you talk trash behind their backs." George said, stealing more food of my plate, and running away with it with a sly grin. I wondered why he just ran away mid conversation until I noticed he was running over to Alicia who had just walked into the room. I sighed, knowing Lee wouldn't show up until I was done with my food since he always slept in an unhealthy amount.

Then the idea hit me.

I pulled a piece of parchment out of my bag. I always kept spare pieces in there for if I needed to send an owl without needing to go back to my dorm. I took out my quill, and started to write.
