Mila's POV

The great hall was loud as always as all of us ate our breakfast. Part of me wanted to go over to the Gryffindor to join Fred, but I stayed at the Slytherin table since that was just one of the rules. During meals, you sat with your house. Even though I wanted to join Fred, I was alright being with Draco and Blaise.

"She's still looking at me, isn't she?" Draco asked. He sighed in disappointment like he already knew the answer to his own question.

"She looks like she's daydreaming about her future with you," Blaise joked with a proud smile across his face. Draco glared at him, but not in a mad way, just an annoyed way.

"Shoot me," Draco sighed. For a moment when he dropped his head, I thought he was going to throw his head into his plate full of food, and I was rather glad when that didn't happen.

"We're not going to shoot you, Draco." I said to him. "Aren't you glad that there's at least one girl who actually likes you?" Blaise cackled at my comment, and the two of us laughed together.

"You're a girl and you like me," He quipped back.

"Not in the same way Pansy does,"

Draco glanced over at Pansy, who just gave a cringy wave to him. He didn't wave or do anything back, and looked back to me. "I changed my mind. Shoot her." he whispered.

"Draco!" I shouted at him, shoving him lightly in the shoulder. He rolled his eyes, and Blaise just laughed at the two of us.

Soon the great hall went nearly silent. Draco, Blaise and I looked up at the front, where Professor Umbridge was standing. "Students, quiet down. You shouldn't waste all your energy before classes if you want to do well in school. No more talking." She said. Her voice sounded like she was being nice, but everyone in the great hall stared at her like we were waiting for the punchline or for her to say 'just kidding!'

However, she didn't say anything else, and sat back down in her spot with a suspicious smile. Draco, Blaise and I all exchanged glances of confusion. I noticed everyone else in the hall was doing the same with their friends. I wanted to start talking to Draco and Blaise just to spite her and see what would happen, but I chickened out when I locked eyes with Fred who shrugged at me. Everyone went back to eating.

I noticed that Professor McGonagall and Professor Dumbledore weren't in there. They were the two that would most likely tell Professor Umbridge she couldn't do that. So all of us were forced to eat in silence. Until I lost it.

"I think we should be able to talk during our meals." I said, loud enough for her to hear from the front. I stood up on the bench so she could see me. All the students looked at me. Some looked glad that someone was saying something, some look confused still, and others looked scared for me, like they were expecting to watch me get cursed by the professor. "Who are you to tell us we can't talk? If anyone were to be able to do that, it would be Dumbledore. In case you haven't noticed, you're not the headmaster."

"Not yet, I'm not." She said, standing from her chair, and walking towards me with small steps that could be heard from her heels. The students watched carefully, and Professor Snape looked like he would be cheering me on if he had the courage and energy to. "What is your name, dear?" She said. Her smile was scaring me.

"Why do you need to know my name? I'm just saying, we should be able to talk with our friends." I gulped after I talked back to her. Draco tried pulling me down by the arm, but I refused, pulling my arm out of his grip.

"Tell me your name, please." She said in her high-pitched 'perfect' voice. Through the girly voice, I heard something much more terrifying.

"It's Mila." I gave in.
