Morning caller

Kate never expected to be called on by Lord Bridgerton the next morning but everyone else did.Lady Danbury prepared for a battle of society so both Kate and Edwina could find a husband.She made sure that there would be a library prepared for a caller.

Kate went around her day with her usual air and no one knew her mind was stuck on one Lord Bridgerton.Except everyone knew she was thinking of him even if she denied it.Kate helped chaperone Edwina who had ten lords or barons call on her.Edwina of course was glad to be the centre of attention, Until Lady Danbury pulled Kate aside into the library where Lord Bridgerton was waiting.''Miss Sharma''He greeted with a bow and a kiss on the hand.

''My lord''She replied shocked that he actually called on her.

Lady Danbury walked to the other side of the room so the couple could talk and have some privacy but she kept a close eye on Lord Bridgerton

''Would you like a cup of tea,My Lord?''She asked 

''Yes please''He replied and then watched as she started her work on the tea.She was to busy making tea to notice him staring like nothing else existed.

''How do you take your tea,My Lord?'' She asked

''Milk, no sugar''He answered and smiled.Lady Danbury watched this and knew Lord Bridgerton was already smitten and if not almost is.

''There you go,My Lord''She said as she handed him his tea then picked up her own.

''Thank you''He said then took a sip''Was your first ball pleasant, Miss Sharma?''

''Pleasant enough''She replied deciding to be blunt and honest

''May I ask why it is only 'pleasant enough'?''He asked seeing if there was anything he could do

''It got boring after our second dance''

''Ah I  see you missed me didn't you, Miss Sharma''He said flashing a cocky smile

''I think you will find I barley tolerated your conversation''She said lying hoping he couldn't detect her lie

''I think you are lying''He said with a smirk

''How dare you question a lady like that, you should know better''She said with a mock stern voice

''You never said no''He said with a smile

''Well I say no now''She said taking a sip of tea

''Very well then I will pretend that you did not miss me after I had to depart from your company''He said the grinned''but we both know that you missed me terribly''

''It seems my opinion of your delusions were correct''She shot back not missing a beat

''My delusions are fact''He said trying to win a losing battle

''Then I refuse to let you court me''She said with a smug smile

''You know,You can't refuse a gentleman the honour of dancing with you, it would be very improper Miss Sharma''He said in a low voice''then I would scare anyone away who tries to court you''

''Like I said on the morning ride, I am not looking for a husband Edwina is''She said in and even lower voice''My lord''

''You are right I will be your lord by the end of the season''

A cough came from Lady Danbury who started to walk over to the bickering couple''Lord Bridgerton I think it is about time you leave''She said with a flat face''don't you have parliament duties''

''You are right Lady Danbury I will be late if I do not leave''He said standing up''Good day Lady Danbury.Miss Sharma''He said then bowed before taking Kate hand to kiss it.
