Jaace POV

I heard the annoying chatter of the final nine girls left in my perfect brother's stupid selection as I walked through the hallways to eat breakfast. At the rate my brother is getting rid of these girls this selection will go on for a few more years.

I pushed through the door, ignoring the butler who usually would announce any royal member before they would enter the room. I payed no attention to all the stares I got from the girls and my family because I was about 15 minutes late. I took my usual seat beside my brother on the edge of the table, and saw a maid scurry foff towards the kitchen probably to tell them I was also going to be eating.

"Where have you been?" My brother hissed at me taking a break from eating his breakfast. I rolled my eyes at him because it was a stupid question. I wouldn't "bow down" to him so easily. I was late because I wanted to annoy him.

"I think I could ask the same with you. Girls are missing from dinner. You're missing from dinner. No one is watching you. How do we know what happening behind closed doors?" I asked dramatically. He gets all the attention all the time, and he is such a pusillanimous. I bet he couldn't get a girl to date him if he tried.

"Take that back." He said menacingly. If anyone else had been in this position, they probably would have backed down, but what's the worst he could do.

" Never. Actually I do take back what I said." I was going to said something more before he rudely interrupted me.

"Thanks Jaace." He said calmed down bit still had a small current of anger still left.

"Truth be told, they are the ones probably getting their way with you because you are a weakling." As soon as I said it, I saw his arm come back and fly towards my face. I couldn't react fast enough, and i took the blow to my face.

"Maybe I could persuade a few of them to skip lunch and dinner with me. I could show them what a real man is capable of." I taunted. I felt a little bit of blood trickle down my face when he hit me a second time. I heard high pitch squeals, and saw a few guards raise their guns.

"STOP THIS INSTANT EVERYONE!!" I heard my mother sqream at the top of her lungs. Everyone froze as soon as she yelled.

"You all stop pointing guns at my son, and the second-in-line prince to the throne." She yelled. They instantly lowered then knowing she ment business. They also looked slightly horrified that they might have shot me.

"Girls, as you all know a queen must be calm and collected when situations occur because people will look towards you for guidance. Calm down. How do you all know this wasn't just some surprise test you all just failed?" The girls all blushed and looked at their feet.

I scoffed at them because they have no backbone. My father started walking towards me with my mother, but I refuse to let him get the last say in everything. I punched Thane on the face, and sprinted out of the dining room. I had a head start, so I knew they would never catch me.

I found a staircase that went somewhere in the basement while I was running. I was hoping that the stairs would lead to the kitchen because I was very hungry. I stumbled along through empty halls very lost.

I heard litght footfall getting closer to me, so I slowed down. I could tell it wasn't a guard because their footsteps sounded like a stampede. The steps came louder until I saw a girl struggling to carry a overfilled box of what looked like potatoes maybe. She made a grutimg noise and dropped the box on her foot.

"Stupid royals! Ordering but deciding they don't want it anymore after I carry it in." The girl said, glaring at the potatoes while holding her foot. She is gorgeous. Her blonde hair was braided, and it was perfect for her.
