☆
"Dream!" Foolish yelps and reaches out to pry the little off the bookshelf. Dream hisses at him, his tail puffs and his fur stands up as an attempt to scare Foolish.
It doesn't work.
Dream begins kicking his legs to get away once Foolish scoops him up but his grip is strong.
"Lemme down! Lemme down!" He shouts, volume control all but forgotten about.
Maybe giving him sugar was a bad idea...
Oh well. His mistake was made, he can't go back now. He just has to deal with it. Besides, all sugar rushes end with a crash.
He looks down at Dream who's attempting to bite him. Dreams missing teeth definitely makes it harder to actually hurt Foolish, it just feels like a baby is using him as a teether.
Still, biting is biting regardless of the pain. "Dream, we do not bite." Foolish mimics Puffys 'stern' voice and Dream stops instantly, his ears pinning back.
A low whimper is heard and Foolish instantly feels guilty.
"It's alright bud, just don't bite me, yeah?" Dream is nodding as soon as the words leave Foolishs mouth.
Sometimes Foolish forgets about the prison, forgets about where his scars and trauma came from. It's always easy to remember though, especially with Dreams new demeanor.
Then, Dream remembers the sugar in his system and he's back to squirming and trying to get away.
His tail hits Foolishs arm and his paw hits Foolishs chest before Foolish gives in and sets him down.
As soon as his feet touch the ground, he's off. He runs around on all fours, making it easier for his heavily scarred body, crashing into the walls and bookshelf.
Foolish sighs, a hand pressed against his head as he tries to think of a solution. Dream will crash eventually but he's making a mess now and crashing into the wall won't be kind on his body later on.
But Foolish also knows that Dream can't be forced to sit still. It won't work to simply hold him until the sugar wears off.
And besides, Puffy won't be happy about Dream turning her house upside down.
Finally a idea pops into his head. He scoops Dream up again, chuckling when the little whines instantly.
"Hey, wanna go outside?," Dream isn't allowed out by himself but Puffy has a large backyard and Dream loves the snow, especially after his stay in the prison.
Dream perks up visibly, his tail swishing to show his interest. "Yeah? Good idea? Alright, let's get your boots on." Dream is set down again but this time he stays by Foolish, fidgeting with his ears.
Foolish grabs Dreams boots and sits on the floor to help him get them on. Dreams paws shake and twitch constantly which means getting his shoes on takes ages. Plus the fact that he can't really tie his shoes well enough for them to stay on...
So Foolish laces his boots for him and helps him tug his coat on, much to Dreams displeasure, before opening the back door.
Dream runs out immediately, giggling gleefully as he runs in circles in the snow. Foolish doesn't see the appeal in getting dizzy purposefully but whatever makes Dream happy.
He sits on the garden chair, watching as Dream chases his own tail before falling into the snow.
Dream adores snow. Maybe his love for it became more enhanced after the prison because of the lava and constant heat but he's always loved it. He would spend snow days as a child in the garden trying to catch snowflakes on his tounge or making snowmen.
And today isn't any different. Foolish watches as Dream sticks his tounge out then stumbles back and falls once again, laughing the entire time.
He flops back and begins making a snow angel. Then he sits up and turns towards Foolish. "Foo! Snow!" He shouts, a giddy smile on his face. It really makes him look his mental age with his missing teeth.
"Yeah?" Foolish replies, amusment in his tone.
Dream crawls over to his chair and sits next to it. "Yeah." He says, leaning over to lay his head on Foolishs leg.
His eyes droop a bit but the smile doesn't leave his face. "Sleepy?" Foolish asks, reaching a hand down to rest it in Dreams hair, avoiding his ears and horns carefully.
Dream hums quietly, watching the snow fall with childlike wonder in his eyes.
"I won'er how- how snow's made." Dream mumbles, leaning further against Foolishs side.
"I could explain it to you." Foolish offers, looking down at his brother. "Nuh uh, I w'na th'nk is magic." Dream replies, his body relaxing as his exhaustion creeps up on him.
Foolish hums. "You know what I think? I think it's naptime." Dream whines a bit but doesn't protest when Foolish stands up and picks him up. He nestles against his chest, a quiet sigh escaping him.
"Maybe." Dream murmurs, already half asleep. Foolish wishes that he can fall asleep as fast as a child can.
Foolish steps into the house, closing the door behind him. He sets Dream on the couch, ignoring his quiet whines, and undos his laces then pulls off his boots. He watches with a quiet laugh as Dream stretches his paws.
The coat is next to go then Dream is picked back up and Foolish carefully makes his way to Dreams bedroom.
He lays Dream on his bed, making sure the guard rails are up, and hands him his stuffed bunny. A blanket is pulled over him.
Dream reaches out a arm blindly
and Foolish steps closer. He sets his hand in Dreams hair again and smiles when Dream starts purring softly.Dreams breaths even out and he falls asleep peacefully, one paw wrapped around Foolishs arm and the other clutching onto his bunny.
Foolish carefully unwraps himself from Dreams grip and makes his way back to the living room, leaving Dreams door a bit open.
He sighs. Time to clean up.
☆ Bonus:
Dream wakes up in a few hours, fully big. He stumbles down the stairs and into the kitchen, sitting on a chair and grumbling about his back before looking up.
Foolish is staring at him, a knowing look on his face.
"Dude, what did I do earlier? I feel like I ran a marathon." Dream groans, laying his head in his hands.
"Somethin' like that." Foolish says with a laugh. He hands Dream a cup of orange juice.
"Let's just say, you're not having candy as a treat anymore."
